When I think we have had it bad as fans having been starved of a league title for 20 years, I always looked at my many friends who are Cubbie fans ... They've been waiting for a World Series title for over 100 years ... Yup, 100 years. So what's a quarter century when these mates couldn't even hear stories from their grandparents about the last Cubs team to win a title ...

Well ... That ended last night.
Down 3-1, they won the 7 game series 4-3 in extra innings ....
That team is fucking stocked with young, talented hitters and as long as their pitching staff stays in tact (& Hendricks stays true to this year's form), they're odds on favorite to win next year too.

Back to the Future was off by a year ... not bad.

I liked his comment to the interviewer - "Do you recycle?" and handed over the empty bottle of champagne he was holding.
I did think that Maddon made a few mistakes yesterday. While obviously he is much better attuned to tactics and his team than I am, I was screaming at him not to replace Hendricks, who was pitching superbly, in the 5th, with 1 on, 2 outs. Lester then gave away 2 runs and brought Cleveland back in the game. Then replacing Lester with Chapman with one on and 2 outs in the 8th. Less of an issue, but again Lester was pitching well. Seemed a little like "managing-by-numbers" rather than taking what his players were giving him.

Mabel Ball, born the same year the Cubs had previously won the World Series, died Tuesday in the Chicago suburb of Northbrook.
