If we could genuinely get Milner for say £20m we should go all out for him. I'm a massive fan and he'd improve our first 11 no end.

Can't see it happening, Citeh would be mad to sell him .
He had a poor season last season but he's an infinitely better player than SWP. £20m is too much though, a sneaky bid of £15m could do the trick as he seems as if he could be surplus to requirements at City soon.

If Sunderland buy him for 13M or whatever odd, it's an absolute guarantee that in 3 years time he'll be sold to us/United/Chelsea/City for at least twice that.

That's the way it works.
Spot on 100%. If he's knocking the goals in and looking the part, we'll be thinking why the hell did we not fork out the extra few million for him? He's reportedly keen on joining us as well.

Not going to lie i'm really pissed off about this. Sunderland are paying £9 million up front for him with a extra few million in installments...it's hardly a crazy fee when you look at the market.

Disappointed.
Oh you are thinking about tippy toe CR7?
What ???

His season wasn't that bad.

He's a class act, either way- I'd be very happy if he was our biggie this summer

No to Milner, especially at the price he would cost. He's a decent player, nothing more. Not very quick either. Not what we need, IMO.

I thought he played his best football for Villa at centre mid but hes looked a bit lost when hes played there in a City shirt. Where would you play him?

Never been overly impressed with Milner to be honest mate. Had one great season at Villa but apart form that, meh.

Milner is RAPID over short distances, he's no slouch.

I think y1 meant c.Ronaldo ?
That's right.

As far as most English players are concern, I don't think we have missed out on any signing that we truly regretted.

He really isn't. How often does he beat a man with pace and skill? He's another so-called winger whose best position is probably in the centre of midfield where he has options either side of him. And he's only had one outstanding season in his career. If he was our 'big signing', I would cry.

Agree. There's nothing exciting in Milner's game. I don't think he's good enough for a top 5 or 6 team.

Villa was his level, and the Villa fans loved him. Easy to say now but he really shouldn't have left them.

Breaking news:
Sunderland have signed Connor Wickham on a four-year deal from Ipswich for an initial fee of £8million, which could rise to £12m. More to follow

Hahaha.

Ahhh but we're getting all our deals done quickly. Well before pre-season. These Yanks and Mr Bean have the football transfer market sussed.

Gary - how many EPL teams have actually bought any players other than ourselves, the scum and Sunderland ? Relax maaan.

I was about to say the same thing - too much FM 2011 being played boys?

International player being linked: "If this is our BIG NAME signing, I am going to kill myself"

Young unproven player linked: "If we dont sign proven, high quality players I am going to kill myself"

Messi/ Aguero/ Pele linked by bullshit on Twitter: "If we dont sign this player I am going to kill myself"

suarez, carroll, kuyt

is more than enough strikers. if we need back up for those 3 use morgan who is tearing shit up in the reserves.

We still need another I think. Suarez likes to be everywhere and while he's creative and a joy to watch, he's not really the natural goalscorer we've been used to, while Kuyt and Carroll are centre forwards rather than strikers (who will both get a fair amount of goals, but still).

Stop being over-dramatic. I'm pissed off we've missed out on Wickham and i'm concerned about our transfer dealings this summer. Is that such a big deal?

By all accounts we had Wickham in the bag, Kenny wanted him, Wickham wanted LFC, price might have been a stumbling block but as i said before, i don't £8 million up front is crazy for an 18 year old English striker with enormous potential.

As for this not being able to sign players until 1st July line that pops up from time to time, it's nonsense. Deals can be done before 1st July. We've already signed Henderson. Man U have signed 3 top players in De Gea, Jones and Young, and they don't even need much work to their squad, us on the other still need a central defender, a left back, at least one winger and a striker.

Agree. Another striker is required in my view. Kuyt's 31, Carroll's had injury problems and that's a concern. Definitely need another forward.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he scores 15 goals next season, and goes with England to Euro 2012. Oh and doubles his price tag.

How is that being overly dramatic? Is it totally out of the question that he scores 15 goals next season and is in England's Euro 2012 squad?

Gary - I appreciate that this is a player you would clearly like us to have signed. I rate him too.

However, he is unproven, injury prone, and will require extensive 1st team playing time to improve (which we wouldnt give him) .

If he turns out to be that good, we will buy him next summer for a 40% uplift.

Bitching and moaning isnt going to change any of that - what is it with fans that think the club must be slow on the uptake, or simply not know anything about football if a player they like isnt immediately signed up?

In this case its all fucking paper chat. Dalglish would probably get strung up by the owners if we go into next season with 45 million pounds worth of injury ravaged striker.
