Curtis has been at his best recently.

Physically strong, quickish and has been getting around the park. Something we've desperately needed.

His progressive passes are currently great with little of the hogging the ball on display.

Dribbling has been excellent too.

Is he now one of the 1st names on the sheet?

I'd have him and Gravy, with Wirtz and Szobo in my 4 man midfield.

Him gravy and szobo with Wirtz false 9 in a 3 man...

he earned it. he should continue this
gravy confuses me sometimes he plays like best but when majority where pressure leads to him he fell weak.
he is good at keeping ball but his position demands more than that
for example: city away recent one is we can say

His pressing also gave us a goal against Leeds. What's impressed me is he's had the balls to go out to the media, call out the squad for now working hard enough and then matched his own words on the pitch. Szobo has done the same and been showing it all season. Both should be automatic starters for the time being, which isn't saying much given Maccas form.

Anyway, Jones was very good last night.

He's been very good recently, deserves an extended run. He moves the ball and brings players into the game really well.

This place is hilarious at times. I love Curtis and have been a fan since his youth days but he hasn’t been at this year at all until last night and one performance does not warrant a ‘first name on the team sheet’ call.

We seem to flip flop on players based on one good/awful performance.

But it's not been 1 performance. I called out his good play against Leeds too. Hes not had that many opportunities, and now he has had them he's taken them.

He's had a good few good performances and periods in games where he's been good. He's never going to be the answer, but he's got something we need at the minute which is a fight and some forward aggressive passing movement. I don't think he's close to the first name on the team sheet, but I think he should be getting more game time than Macca for one. At their best, Macca is far superior though.

Football is all about whats happening at the moment though, and going by that Curtis should start. What happened in August/September/October means fuck all now. Its the same way we should look at Salah. This season he isnt performing and shouldnt start. His previous records have no influence on any outcome now.

We need him right now. We need that extra physicality and energy in the engine room to replace what Diaz gave us last season.

Midfield needs to be Jones, Gravy, Szobo and then one of Wirtz or Macca.

So decent display against Leeds and a great display against Inter warrants him to be the first name on the teamsheet? Really?

Sorry Dom.
Sorry Alison.
Sorry Virgil.
Sorry Gravy.

And that’s just the obvious players. I’d like to see him keep his place but fuck me we don’t have go over the top.

Also. I think the key point, in the absence of a sharp Wirtz, or indeed anyone bar Ekitike, Jones feels like a vital spark of incisive play

They can't all step up and improve on last season's performances. Unlike Gakpo, Alisson, Bradley and Robertson...

So, let's say, hypothetically, that a player, hypothetically, had been absolutely stinking the gaff out since, I don't know, March, hypothetically, should that player, hypothetically, be criticised, no longer first name on the team sheet and potentially benched? Hypothetically.

He's done well lately, but it's Jones. Ultimately I don't trust the fucker to carry this on as and when we need.

Another proper midfielder has to be priority in Jan.

He started against Forest and PSV.

He is going to get game time no doubt but I would like to see more consistency at a high level.

Mate, you need to chill out!

I said one of the first, not the first.

My goodness there's enough crap going on at the club and this is just an opportunity to enjoy one of our players who's showing his best form.

He (rightly) gets shit when he plays shit, so i think he deserves a bit of praise when he's playing well. Nice to see you agree he should be starting currently 👍

He is at best a bench option. He has 1 good game, and people forget he has way so many average performances. I have to say his injury has been managed well and he does love the club. However, if we have to buy to sell, he is one of the first I would look to sell.

Anyone know where @StevieM is?
