Dalglish set for Anfield role as Rafa shakes up his coaching staff

From the Mail. I'll be delighted if Garry Mac joins us again.

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is shaking up his backroom staff by dispensing with four of his coaches.

Gary Ablett is being replaced as reserve-team manager after three years. Another former player, Hugh McAuley, is also departing despite guiding the Under 18s to the FA Youth Cup final, where they lost to Arsenal.

Youth coaches Dave Lever and Dave Shannon are also leaving.

Frank McParland will return to oversee the backroom set-up and former Barcelona and Olympiakos coach Jose Segura is taking over as academy director.

Anfield legend Kenny Dalglish appears set to return to the club as adviser or ambassador.

Popular former midfielder Gary McAllister is also being linked with a coaching role.
 
Sounds promising. Hope they live up to expectations as we do need the youth/academy to start pushing quality players into the first team again.

So this is the real Rafalution then? He's always wanted control of the complete running of the club, and I'd guess this is proof that he's now got it. Will be interesting to see if we improve in those areas.

I agree Bunny. I think it's a good thing. He's stamping HIS authority over everything. It's his project now and it's a complete project now from top to bottom.

I like the way things are going. I really do.
 
With all this change afoot you can't help but be optimistic for the future. Hope it works out as it'd be nice to see more kids coming through.

Maybe now we can bin off some of the dross Rafa signed during his battle for the Academy.
 
No more excuses from Rafa. He has won his battles in the boardroom and now he has the backroom of his choice.

I know everyone makes the comparisons and gets slated, but is their not a part that makes you recall Leeds winning the League with the first real Man Ure challange in a long time. They pusehed on the next year to win it.

agent tevez completes his first mission for his new employers.
 
Steve McMahons brother John is also lined up as a coach. I know he played for Preston and was a coach at Tranmere. Currently assistent manager at Shrewsbury, and is highley regarded.
