Di Maria and Falcao have been abject, expensive failures and just to piss on the argument completely, Danny fucking Wellbeck for Arsenal, another player everyone considers wank and an also-ran type player, came in and did a better job for them than most of United's big signings.
We all want a big marquee signing, but getting a pathetic strop on about every signing that isn't, just smacks of a crappy, Football Manager-esque unrealistic thought process.
Yes we need to buy big, but even the more successful managers in Liverpool's glittering past, bought players who were gambles, who were young and who were deals that were worth getting in on, in the hope that we may have just pulled off a buy that will pay off in the long run.
I don't want Benteke at all, but the hysterics over us potentially signing an U21 International for a fee that's probably at most £5m (Less than Aspas, Alberto and Illori!), is just ridiculous.
If you think we can go Falcao esque and throw a quarter of a million a week at every a mercenary looking for a pay day on past glories, then you're as delusional as everyone you keep sneering at. We need a big signing this Summer, we're all agreed on that, but you're living in cloud fucking cuckoo land if you think every signing we pull off has to be a £30m big name.
