Also if Sanchez is being classed as a striker, you can bring Sterling into our list, which makes it look much better.

Well in those circumstances the only way Sterling would play up front ever again is if our new strikers turned out to be shit.

'In reality' that 200k a week freed up by Suarez's departure was swallowed up (and more) by a raft of new players (Lallana/Markovic/Can/Lambert/Moreno/Manquillo/Lovren) earning a collective whole lot more than 200k a week.

We've also got a stadium expansion to finance.

It's not rocket science for fucks sake..

We also trimmed the wage bill.. increased revenue from TV, sponsorship and Champions League... Having a Marquee signing can lift the whole team.. I guess they thought Balotelli was that Marquee signing.. However evidently not..

A Higher profile manager can help to sway the decision to bring a certain player in.. we have messed up far too much with our primary targets over the last few years.. A marquee signing will want to be with a club that can be seen to win things, and having a proven manager that has the track record in winning things helps... When Rodgers get that monkey of his back, I am sure that will change for us...

I also think we are too over cautious in the transfer market.. A `Marquee' signing brings in revenue for the club tenfold.. Surely when Gerrard has gone in the summer, that will have to happen..

I think people's attitudes to signings (the need for them to be marquee, inspiring, statements of intent etc) is a direct result of Sky's coverage of the sport.

The entertainment v sport argument that was made in another thread essentially

Yep. We are being manipulated by a constant media that demands entertainment. That's why dickheads like Mourinho are tolerated and why the twats on Talksport like Durham and Cundy are encouraged. It's so called entertainment.

Just give me 3 points every week. That's the entertainment I want.

City will have the best strikeforce in the league regardless. But Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea wont be above us in that regard. Its close though but bar Rooney and Costa there isn't much better quality there than what we got.
RVP is still a good striker but he's fading fast. Rooney is also used as a midfielder quite often these days.

Ings is an ok player but we need better, plus i've an issue with going for strikers that aren't particularly quick as it really doesn't suit our style of play. If we're buying someone else like lacazette AND ings then i wouldn't have an issue. But if we start next season with studge, origi, balottelli and ings then we're fucked already.

Pogba wont happen. His agent has talked up a move to PSG.
We wont spend 60 mill euros on a player.

Someone was saying on the radio in the last day or two that Real are also sniffing around him.

It would be a dream signing but we're never going to get him in a month of Sundays.

Exactly - if we get a guy who can score around 10 league goals a season for the next four years for £3m it's a no brainer. I don't think that's beyond him.

Burnley chief executive Lee Hoos insists Danny Ings will not sign for #LFC this month and be loaned back to the Turf Moor.

Hoos on potential #LFC deal for Ings: “This type of move would violate Premier League rule V7 regarding transfers so simply cannot happen."

The rule states: "A Temporary transfer to a club may not take place in the Transfer Window in which the Transfer or Club acquired the Player's registration."

Am I reading too much into that or is they Burnley chairman saying that while Ings won't leave and then return on loan there may be some sort of other type of deal possible.
Say Ings joining Liverpool with Lampert going in the other direction on loan?

Looks like I am reading too much into it.
Chairman has come out and said that he is going nowhere this window with the player in total agreement.

Doesn't that always happen though? Like when Utd signed Zaha, there's a few others that I can't think of off the top of my head

Annoying statement.. Seems odd that these so called Footy Journos havent picked up on that given it is their full time job to know the ins and outs of transfers.. At least it would be if they were diligent in their job and not just copy catting rumours on twitter.

No smoke without fire for this... If Sturridge gets injured tomorrow I reckon we'll bid £10M for Ings. Probably just courting Ings regardless

Yeh, thats pretty terrible, who knows, maybe the club didn't know it either and were trying to make the move! I'm sure the Ayre haters would love that to be true.

I think this is possible too, maybe Borini going though.

The Echo wouldn't have gone with this unless they'd been tipped off about something. Presumably the club employs people who actually know the rules - it would be scandalous if they don't - so maybe Pearce got confused.

to be fair it could be a new rule and in the days of instant news any journo would want to be seen to be on the ball so might not want to wait 30-60 mins to scour the transfer rules before tweeting!

Although any who had pointed out this couldn't happen would have gotten great credibility over the others...

We are getting bogged down into technicalities. We can easily purchase the right to buy the player for X sum at the end of the season. Same outcome as the proposed loan move.

If we had a strikeforce next season of Sturridge, Ings, Austin and Origi I would be extremely worried and you should all be too.
