Surely... SURELY a better option than Charlie Adam...

I know he's hot headed character, but come on... it's a no brainer.

Germany

A little like a divorce based on irreconcilable differences, Wolfsburg have parted company with their Brazilian playmaker Diego with coach Felix Magath saying “it is clear that it was difficult to continue the collaboration and it is better to separate.”

Bild detail how Wolfsburg still hope to sell Diego for at least €10m as the tabloid cite undisclosed approaches from “Brazilian and English clubs.”

Dutch outlet Telegraaf them chirp in with news that Liverpool are looking at Diego.

There was a thread about Diego a while back and the general consensus was that if he could recapture his Werder form then he'd be a bargain at under 10million euro. The jury is out whether he can recapture that form after an unsuccessful spell at Juve and again at Wolfsberg.

hed be worth a punt at that price. on form he's scintillating

But he's not British, surely we would rather double that for brits?

I dislike Diego with a passion.

Yes he has the skill and flair, but the fact is that when Diego has had the chance to establish himself at the top level of the game - he has failed.

At Juve he showed mere flashes of what he is capable of.

At the previous Copa America, Brazil has many big name players out ... Diego had the chance to prove himself, yet after a disastrous opening game performance, he watched from the bench as Brazil went on to win it without him.

He was a failure at Wolfsburg, and for him to have the balls to walk out on his team mates is a disagrace given the position the club was in at the time. No dick like that is worth wearing the jersey of Liverpool in my eyes.

I keep seeing the BBC quote caughtoffside.com in their transfer bit.

Serious question, have caughtoffside ever been right about something (before anyone else) about anything significant, ever?

Wolfsburg playmaker Diego has revealed he is in talks over a ‘dream’ move to the Premier League.
The 26-year-old is one of Liverpool's top summer targets and, while he stopped short of confirming the Reds were in for him, the Brazilian admitted he is closing in on a switch to England.
Diego, who has been told he can leave Wolfsburg after falling out with coach Felix Magath, has also been linked with Tottenham and Arsenal in recent weeks.
"I think Felix Magath and myself share very different ideas from each other," he said. "Of course I respect him because he is the boss but it has been difficult for us to work together. We have sat down and talked and we both think it’s best if I move on.
"I prefer not to mention the names of clubs out of respect for the managers and the owners but it’s true that there is contact with some clubs in England. Of course I will give these offers special attention because it’s my dream to play in the Premier League. I hope they can find a solution.
"At this moment England is where I want to play. We are just starting to have conversations with clubs so it’s too early to say where I will be going, but it would be perfect if in the future I can play in the Premier League."

Tbf brazilians treat us well. Can't give away Aurelio (we tried)

I like Aurelio 🙁

Remember who you're talking to 😉

To be fair... If we could shift Meireles for £16m and get Diego for half the price, surely that would be one hell of a coup?

it could only be good if we can get diego playing to his full capabiities

It'll be Diego's dream to play for any club that's stupid enough to pay him big money.

Diego has always been a selfish player, which is exactly why he has failed to live up to his potential.

Put him alongside that other clown Quaresma

I just looked at his record at Wolfsburg having seen or heard nothing of his time there other than negative press and was surprised to see that it's not actually all that bad.

6 goals and 10 assists in 32 games is a reasonable return for someone having a troubled season.

If we really want a troubled player with great potential, forget paying 10M for Diego and lets sign Cassano for half that. 8)

At Juventus his record was 6 goals and 8 assists in 36 games. Again not terrible.

I also looked through the appearances record and in both seasons his goals / assists tended to come in games his team won by a narrow margin, so they weren't Babel-esque taps ins at the end of a thrashing.

Looking at the stats alone, you can paint a picture of a player that hasn't settled, but has still managed to provide a half decent return therefore indicating there is still something to work with.

So what's the deal? Lazy? Won't integrate himself into a team?

Diego cannot really integrate himself into a team. He's up his own arse so much, it's unreal. In several years playing in Germany he couldn't be arsed to learn one single sentence in German.

Moreover, in several years playing in Germany he couldn't be arsed to learn one single sentence in German.

He's a nutter. We should stay well clear.

You've just described Tevez, but it's a good point 🙁

Tevez is his ugly twin.

Heh and Tevez is a fantastic player without which City would not be in the CL this season.

If he's that much of a cunt 10M is probably too steep and I suppose he'd kick off if he found himself on the bench on occasions.

Anyways, I find it hard to believe we're in for him. Where would he play!

Lucas will put his arm round him, call him champ and that'll sort him

Good old friendly lucas

The last time he was about to find himself on the bench he rushed out of the team hotel and went home.

The next day he went to the training ground as if nothing had happened.

Charming, eh?
