Couldn't be arsed posting about real football stuff right now... It just doesn't seem important, does it? It's ridiculous to feel this affected by the loss of a kid I never knew, but football does ridiculous things to the best of us, n'est pas..?

I need a distraction, so I thought I'd go with the ol' tried-and-true, greatest 11 ever discussion to start with... Feel free to take this one anywhere, that'll help us all just take our minds off how fucking horrible and unfair life can be sometimes.

Ali is in nets. He’s a phenomenal keeper.

Right back I’m going Markus Babbel. Easily would’ve been a snake but he did snake things.

Sami and Virgil are the best centre backs I’ve seen play for us but both were left sided and Sami loses out. Virgil partnered by Joel who was a better footballer than Carragher who himself was better than most the CBs I’ve seen with ease.

Left back is me irn bru. My first game was a young kid in early 89 so Nicol never left that impression.

Base of midfield 3 is Alonso. A magician.

Gerrard walks into this team. I’m putting him alongside Barnes who made me fall in love with the club. Most will slate me saying it’s not his position but it’s fucking hard to squeeze this legend in with the others.

Stat man Mo gets RF. Sadio LF.

Suarez edges out Torres.

Nah, Joel was Hansen-lite. Apart from Joel’s height, I think Hansen beats him in every department.

Alisson - Clem was great, but Alisson's even better.

Rob Jones - best defensive RB we've ever had - Babbel's a good shout but NOBODY got past the Jones boy, ever.

Virgil
Steve Nicol - played more often on the right but equally good on the left, at centre back, wide midfield either side - you name it, he smashed it.

Mo Salah - with Rob J behind him the Egyptian King would never need to worry about defending.
Gerrard
Souness (capt.) - these two would dovetail so well - terrifying to play against.
Barnes - has to be wide left - adequate but no more than that as a CM late in his career.

Dalglish - HAS to be right up the front - just another player when we occasionally played him further back, which is why we hardly ever did.

Very similar, but a few changes.

RB - I would pick the snake, but fuck that guy. For me I loved Finnan. Efficient, sensible. Not the best ever but certainly the second best I've seen for us.

DM - I adored mascher. The tenacity, the aggression, the bite. He's everything I want in a DM.

Cm - not Barnes, as I didn't really get the same feeling as I was late to the party. I'm going full double pivot and throwing in Alonso. My midfield is prime Rafa era.

Totally agree about Masher in particular. I've added him to my bench and I'd defo use him during the game.
