Szob has outperformed this team for a year now. He's consistently our best midfielder, tying him up now isn't just about getting better value for him, it's about him being here for the best years of his career. I assumed he'd be off so would be delighted if he stayed. Of course we want more goals etc from him but he's just coming into his peak years and I don't see many if any better than him in the league.
 
He's definitely a Madrid type player. I agree though, there's definitely some future captain grooming going on, rightly so.
 
With Robbo almost certainly leaving in the summer, vice capt role will be up for grabs.

I personally would like to see Dom, be passed that role. There *might* be some internal politics which could make that decision more challenging with a contract renewal for MacAllister as he currently features within the existing leadership group.

The clubs vision for MacAllister will drive that, after all we may be willing to cash in on him if a large offer came in, to recycle the balance of midfield and bring in a more specialist defensive minded midfielder.
