Everything was slow. Like it was a July friendly. Every time someone got the ball it was stop it, go back a little, then see forward and most likely lose it. Not even playing the percentages of getting it and putting it in spaces where the wingers or forward would be. No playing it ahead of the man. The gap between back and front after 30 minutes was bigger than the gap between Bonnie Blue’s legs.
The first 30 were okay at best, then everyone started blowing and going even slower because they were not match fit. There was no intensity which meant no fight or even showing they had a right to be on that pitch.
I asked my lads what was the best thing about the match and I got back staying up late and the Chiesa song.

We also stayed the full game. It broke my heart to see it emptying out after the red card and the kids asking where is everyone going. Same at 3-0.
I saw the majority of my games at anfield at the end of houlliers time and there was zero belief, so it can be done, the children just have to be as stupid as I was in my early 20s. Good luck.
