Post Match EPL Arsenal (A) 0-0 January 8th 20:00

You know, just sometimes, there's an actual genuine point in some of your ramblings, but it gets lost in fucking absolute hyperbole and cringeworthy misplaced superiority.
No superiority here even if the perception is different.

I’d rather be hyperbolic in praising elements of the team and club than being hyperbolic when talking negatively and calling our manager a cunt or our players fucking rubbish or describing the chances of us getting beaten as ‘we will get humiliated’.

Thank you for acknowledging I sometimes have half a valid point buried in my upbeat exaggerations. I’m wrong as often as I’m right if not more as that’s the nature of football.

I will be handing out ample supply of humble pie however when we win the CL 😂

For all the complaining about subs, if we didn't have FA Cup this weekend I guarantee we would have used some. Jones wasn't fit so was there in spirit only. Rio might have been an ok sub but I don't know how sharp he is defensively and arguably Gakpo just for his height defending set pieces is useful.
I do think that was a part of it. A game in 2 days meant you didn’t want to have people play unless absolutely essential.

That’s where we differ it seems. We were well on top second half and should have gone (like Arsenal did, even though they have a six point cushion at the top) for a win…like a Liverpool side in the ascendancy would be expected to.

Protecting Slot’s ten game unbeaten streak and position is not the priority.
Considering we’ve done that all season and bar the first 5 games it’s backfired on us spectacularly with a number of late concessions. I’ve zero doubt Slot expected Arsenal to score from that corner and if Jesus got out of the way they may have.
I’d have loved to see us go and win it but I completely understand us taking the point and the confidence from another clean sheet against the best side in the league and one of the best in the world currently. It bodes well for the CL.

Also it’s not Slots it’s the teams unbeaten run.

It's like talking to a brick wall.

Any cunt can fall over. Id rather we have someone on the pitch who can offer a little bit more than that
I get that although I think you underestimate how hard it is to draw a fall and actually get awarded it. More often than not the isolated player loses the ball which leads to more sustained pressure but ya of course I’d have loved Gakpo to not be shite going forward in the game.

I don't mind the negativity, there are plenty of reasons to be negative. I do mind that irrational positivity is derided right now but irrational negativity is fine.

I do mind the fact that there's a universal acknowledgement that we are shit and a prevalent feeling was that we'd be beaten, and a significant amount of people thought it would be embarrassing. Then, we compete in a game, give ourselves in my mind our best platform to win it given the players we had, show a really good performance in the second half, and now we are bitching about how we didn't do more? If we are shit and the team is broken, and it is, then adjust your expectations. If you expect us to be humiliated and we compete and get a result, smile?

I'm far more annoyed about our lack of ambition in other games when we had the ball. Given that our subs have generally made our team worse, and how our team have responded disastrously to any slight change in momentum, I don't think slot did anything wrong not changing.

Join me. I'm a grey army. I feel like what we are. We are 4th in a bad league after losing a bunch of games. I simultaneously think slot is a big part of breaking this team, but the fact that he has turned it around from entirely broken and even survived so far is worthy of note. I don't think many of us understand the pressure he was under. I think the football we play is awful at times and bores me to death but that we'd have been better off if he had started playing for 0-0s far earlier in our horrible slide, as that is what I was screaming for. I think if you can't enjoy us these scraps it's going to be a long season because I don't see us winning anything.
Great post. Potentially the main issue is people not adjusting their expectations and realising we aren’t the team currently that walked the league last season.

The only point I disagree with is not winning anything. We can win the CL and if we manage to get past this round of the FA Cup with Fabio on the left wing we could win the FA Cup.

If we had played out dull 0-0’s in the games we lost we’d be second.

I disagree. We got tonked by PSV at home - a team we were expected to dominate possession against and beat. Games against Real, Inter etc allow us to be more defensively rigid and give up more of the ball. It's the same issues. If the onus is on us to attack and create, we'll largely come unstuck.
I think that was more to do with the fact we were at the very bottom of confidence and run of defeats. We also had chances in that game before it got away from us. It really us fine margins.

Again you did as I said you do.. You ignored everything and just focused on just one simple point...

Yes it was a good result and yes it was probably our best preformance of the season and yet we didn't really create enough to win the game.
Both teams were more focused on not giving up chances than trying to win. I think it's more worse on arsenal than us because they had more to gain by winning and less to lose by losing
You really expect people to reply to every point in the post. I reply to the points that are relevant or that I disagree with or that haven’t been repeated over and over.

I agree with everything else in your post except I think we did create enough and another day Bradley scores from there or we get a penalty. Many games only need one chance, we had several. We just didn’t take them.

Several? Getting into a dangerous area isn't actually a chance

OK would love you answer this thing how you see the games better because you have better coverage of games than us poor mortals... Have asked you a few times to explain this but you always ignore it but it was your comment

Probably because Kerkez overlaps outside and Gakpo turns inside
This is the correct answer presumably. Gakpo is often playing or cut inside in the left channel and Kerkez is all left footed. No stats from last game on Kerkez to Gakpo?

Yeah, he was good against Arsenal. It would be hard to judge anyone on that game but do need to see more attacking output against the lesser teams.

Several? Getting into a dangerous area isn't actually a chance
There are many times when that is exactly what a chance is. When having a 5 on 4 or a 4 on 3 break and then messing it up (failing to even get a shot away), when a player has a chance to shoot and instead makes the wrong decision and it goes awry - see Frimpong's decision making. It isn't always about the shot, which is where xG falls down of course.

Kerkez had probably his best performance of the season out there.
I think many people on here (look at the MotM ratings - Kerkez wasn't even in some people's Top 3 - that is frankly ridiculous) totally underestimated his performance. He was up against what many critics/players would claim is one of the best players/wingers/strikers in the league, if not the world.

There wouldn't be many that would disagree in Saka making the PL XI by the end of the season. And Kerkez nullified him, bar the one occasion he got past but that can happen, it's Saka after all. It was a brilliant defensive performance.

Saka is shite. I’ve seen him limping more with a fake injury than score.

Kerkez did my head in about 4 times in the first 10 minutes but then sorted his shit out and played well.

Near identical stars to Salah this season with 300 more minutes (league only) and I think Salah has been shite this season. Shite.

Ya I get that at such and ya I would say frimpong's one where he passed instead of shooting was a chance but beating his man on the wing and sending a poor low cross to no one isn't...
Either way though, we didn't do enough of either in the game.
Im not trying to take away from the preformance as it was excellent but just the attacking side of things was a lacking as it generally has been for a long time.
I just find slots brand of football boring, it seems to be just slow possession based football based around not conceding chances more than creating chances, relying more on a bit of individual magic that tactically creating stuff..
I want to see more of stuff like the play that led up to the Bradley chance which while came from and arsenal fuck up, the build up was class..
I want to enjoy us playing instead it feels like more of a chore. It's killing the atmosphere at anfield
