Pre Match EPL Leeds (A) - Saturday 6th December - 5.30pm

According to current stats broadcast by Sky Sports, Bruno Fernandes is the most creative player in the Prem to date having created 35 chances.

Gakpo is the fourth most creative with 25 chances to his name.

I can't see Gakpo being dropped if he is our most creative player. It's not his fault if teammates are not converting the chances he produces.
Chances created means naff all really unless you really scrutinise that down. Gakpo could pass the ball backwards to Dom, who carries it 10 yards and shoots from 40 yards out and it goes down as a chance created. Funnily enough that was the pattern of our play last night.

We had 22 shots yesterday, usually 80% of shots are from "chances created", did we look like a side that created 17-18 chances for ourselves?

What's fucking obvious from watching him the past 3 years is that Gakpo is not a creative player.

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke says he believes Liverpool will be challenging for the Champions League places 'and for the title' at the end of the season: "They are still a top class side and they are the reigning champions.

"Last season they were excellent. Even for them, like every team in this league, over the course of 38 games you will have a period where results don't go your way, when you don't have your best performances.

"They had a really good start, and yes...a bit more challenging and a difficult period and it's not easy when you have international duties and introduce key players to the game.

"But two points away from the Champions League positions I do not have one doubt in my head that when it comes to the crunch point in the season they will be back and fighting for the Champions League and also the title. Each team has ups and downs."

That's more of the spirit:

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke, speaking to media on is teams injuries, including updates in new injuries and long term ones: "No fresh injury concerns. We have definitely Daniel James and Sean Longstaff out so it's a bit longer term.

"After this game this game we need to take some late decisions, like always, when you have such a quick turnaround.

"We have a few players who are a bit more of a major doubt. Lukas Nmecha with his hamstring problems after the last game. We have to assess him to see if he is available.

"Dominic Calvert-Lewin with some calf problems after the last game. There's also a question mark over his availability.

"We have to see who will be fully recovered, for some players it will be easier; for the players who are used to this load of games in seven days."

DCL will score
Chiesa will come on in the 86th minute
Konate will play like a mong
Salah will start and be abysmal again
We'll get repeatedly hit on the break
We'll concede from a setpiece
Leeds will score at least 3
Gakpo will probably score but will give the ball away a record amount of times by anyone since records began.
Yep.... Thats our Trade mark now.

Was in the pub with some Leeds mates last Thursday and they were adamant we'd still smash them even with our current form. Out with them tonight, so I'll gauge the current mood. They're either still Farke'd or qualifying for the champions league after beating Chelsea.

Yup, they're going to beat us.

It all feels kind of irrelevant; we have too many players who shouldn't be in the team at the moment, and not enough replacements for them who are good enough. And even if we had enough players in form I don't have any faith Slot will send us out with decent tactics.
Most of these players were either good enough to win the PL last season or were stars for other teams. I don't think that they are not good enough. I think it's tactics, confidence and form.

Chances created seems to be very important when the topic is Wirtz. But now we're discussing Gakpo, it's not important?
It’s not important for either because the definition is flawed.

Should Slot start both Isak and Ekitiké?

After Sunday’s win over West Ham, Liverpool endured another difficult 90 minutes against Sunderland in midweek. Mohamed Salah was brought on at half-time in an attempt to bring inspiration to a struggling side, but did not change much about the performance. Arne Slot is doing his best to turn the situation around but finding the answers is not straightforward. Opponents are losing the fear of facing the Premier League champions and Leeds’s confidence will be boosted after seeing off Chelsea on Wednesday, with Elland Road sensing blood when Liverpool visit. Slot may want to give Daniel Farke something to think about, and an intriguing proposal would be to start Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitiké; the Frenchman can play off one of the wings, with the ability to cut in and provide greater support for the Sweden striker, offering a little surprise for Leeds’s defence in the process.

Bradley back, Gomez picked up a knock (who is surprised?) so likely not to play the full 90.

Isak --------- Chiesa ----------- Ekitike

Now that would surprise them (and us).

You ever heard that saying about how stats are like a woman's bikini?

I didn't bother with press conference today. Did "Right said Fred" have anything interesting to say?

  • last two home games 4 points and 1 deflection away from two clean sheets better than seven goals in two previous (mentioned thrice)
  • New players bedding in better; Flo, Kerkez and Alex
  • Still not where we want to be
  • What about Mo? Straight bat played
  • Leeds? Aggressive 1v1 swapping to a low block. Long balls - so know what to expect
  • Cheesy and the 93rd min save? Praised but nothing else
  • Will Szobo play in central area? Yes
  • Need to get #9 more involved "We need to improve and so does he"
  • Harvey spoke to before/after Feynoord game only. I think I know how he feels. Speak to Villa not me
