Pre Match EPL Sunderland (A) - Wednesday February 12th 20:15

to be fair to slot he’s right in that chiesa has been improving loads this season by not playing

but it’s also because our wide players have been shite

i don’t however think he’s right about ramsay, fullback is one of the few positions i think you can give a player a chance. he doesn’t need to be cafu to give us a solid 60 or 90 against sunderland or any other side and rest some midfield legs.

Again, the problem is that Slot doesn't keep the squad players match fit because he never gives them any time.
There was a point during this season where it looked like Chiesa was in shape. I think it was around the Southampton game when he got two assists. What happened then?
Benched.
5-10 minute cameo appearances.

haha we’re all going to be fucking furious tomorrow night
I won’t be. I haven’t been for a while. What’s the point?

As soon as we got to Xmas with no news and Xabi available most of us knew that was it for the season. Maybe FSG have a plan for the summer, maybe they don’t but not much point getting overly excited about something that ain’t going to change until July ofif at all

you’ve reached acceptance, i’m still at anger. watching europa league and missing out on even more targets is fuelling me.

And maybe I’m reading too much into it, but it does come across as a slightly sarcastic dig at Klopp — indirectly referencing Klopp’s 22/23 league finish (which I think he will have difficulty matching this season - we need 28 out of 39 points to equal that season's 67 points), which led to no Champions League football in 23/24 (and/or using it as a defence for himself, should we not qualify for CL).

He only finished with two more points than Klopp’s final season. As I’ve mentioned before, 84 points wouldn’t have been enough to win the title in most of the past 10 seasons - the last season in which 84 points (2024/25) would have been enough to win the title was 2015/16 — the season won by Leicester (only once in the last 14 seasons, twice in 22 seasons).

Arne Slot asked if his job would be safe if #LFC did NOT qualify for Champions League: "The only thing I do know is that it happened before and recently (Jurgen Klopp in 22-23) and it didn’t affect the future of that manager. But that doesn't guarantee anything of course."

He added: "In general, managers especially at this club (are judged not just on league finishes). And at some clubs they also look at the progress the players make, the progress the team makes, the circumstances are sometimes taken into account."

He's alienating the fan base even further with every interview. Surely its just a matter of time before he's finished at this rate.
Here's hoping.

Thing is, it's not like what he's saying is out of whack or wrong necessarily. It's just the way he says things and the fact that a very large percentage of the fanbase hate him.

I wonder to what extent public sentiment affects the players.

you can see that siege/ bunker mentality with some managers. like prime mourinho or klopp will have you running through walls for them, fuck what anyone else says, you’ve got a tight bond.

i’m guessing there’s none of that with slot and outside sentiment is being taken on board by the players.

why did slot keep getting a pass on everything he comes out with because he’s dutch? the pass is currently expiring but it’s not like virgil constantly blurts out a load of shite and doesn’t know when to shut up.
