Post Match EPL Tottenham (A) 1-2 Sat 20th December 17:30

i know right. Its like they need at least 3 touches to get it under control and then make a pass. I'm not sure what training Slot is doing but its not working. Its like they are going backwards technically.
Mind you, wouldn’t you take an extra touch if you knew you was going to get hacked down with no repercussions to them?

Doesn’t excuse why it seems to happen when playing other teams…

Our forwards make forward darting runs in good positions only for the player with the ball recycling the ball backwards or sideways . The only time a forward pass was made to a forward was the assist by wirtz to Isak . So is it the six a side practice where they are asked to do the side passes and pass to the next player beside you a part of the problem . Over coaching and erasing of any instincts or thinking by the player. Do they ever play 11 vs 11 in practice during the week ?

They don't practice anymore. There isn't enough time. Slot said they have thirty minutes to catch up on a Tuesday and they play soggy biscuit and watch half an episode of Beavis and Butthead.

They watch Kojak. Arne is a fan.

The local ice-cream man's been found lying on the floor of his van covered in hundreds and thousands. Police say he topped himself.

The serious answer though is that I'm more optimistic than you. When we bought so many big name, big money players all at one go in the summer, I knew we weren't winning the league this season anyway. We've slipped a lot further off the top than I thought we would, and questions have to be asked about Arne Slot now, but I don't expect the situation to continue indefinitely because FSG just won't allow it.

I'm in no way more silenced or convinced of Slot than I was during our shitstorm of results. I do credit him for handling the Salah situation well, the Inter result, as well as making some tactical changes. But really all we've done is start four or five CMs for some solidility in circumstances that forced our hand. I fear we would have lost against Spurs had they kept eleven men and started Richarlison or brought him on earlier. We looked awful when the numbers were level and somehow even worse when we were two men up.

If he can get us third or fourth and a decent CL run then I'm up for giving him another year, but I'll always maintain that run of results is sackable, especially in the context of a longer term decline in both performances and results.

I'm absolutely fine for a muddling, traditional year. It's disappointing but understandable. But I'd like to see some process that were on the right path beyond just results. That includes some clear structure to our play, clear attacking patterns that our opposition struggle to maintain, a balanced midfield that matches the aggression and work ethic of the opponents a defense that can better handle set pieces, and a side that generally stop looking so fragile. And that's all before you get to better use it squad management and maintaining morale. We've made some marginal progress on some it the above, but there's still a long way to go.

With Klopp it was always clear what he wanted on the pitch. Ditto most other good managers.

I expected a transitional season given the level of churn in the summer (and the type of signings) but I didn’t expect a complete breakdown. The downward trend at the end of last season should’ve been addressed in the summer but it wasn’t.

I don’t think the board want to sack Slot if they can avoid it but we need progress and clear sight of what we’re progressing towards. Right now we have neither.
