EPL Week 25 Other Matches February 6-8th

Rayan goal for Bournemouth. Looks a class signing as said previously.

24 fucking million £.

Rayan looks a brilliant player and built for PL too. His first assist last week was so impressive how he was strong and able to just play right ball.

He works well with but if there is one Arse player we could sign, it would be Rice. Great engine, good at DCM, can get about and great in the dressing room it seems. Klopp kind of CM.
Love Rice, but I must admit I thought Arsenal had overspent when they got him. But he's worth every penny, leader on and off the pitch which they lacked for a good few years.

Another away win

Not covered himself in glory there, Kelleher.

What a brilliant goal that is, that cross from Outtara is unbelievable. No more than they deserve.

Brentford penalty, quality play again.

i know i owe brentford an apology thus far, i thought kelleher was boarding the titanic and it has been nothing of the sort

If they were to lose Rice for the rest of the season, Arsenal would totally bottle the league. He is their lynchpin and, for me, the player of the season so far. Second place, whoever it is, is not even close.

If Rice has been player of the season, then the creative players and forwards really have been shocking.

Woltemade is absolutely fucking shite. Had about 3 touches of the ball this half and never seen running for the ball, basically Haaland without the goals.

In the past he'd be a below average project striker.

I don't think Eddie Howe has a clue how to use him though, and is destroying his confidence by both not playing him and also playing him in teams that don't suit him. They're also just shit, as I'm sure you'll point out.

Just like Rodri was Ballon D'or two years ago. Totally deserved. Vini Jr assumed it would go to him as an attacking player but Rodri was far more influential. And how we laughed when Vini Jr saw his arse when his coronation was cancelled.
Rice is growing into a Rodri-type figure for me. A controlling player in the centre of the park, highly influential but also contributing creatively (even if most of his goal involvements are from set pieces).
He's also the guy who often unlocks the win when his team mates are flailing.
The title race would be much closer if Arsenal had been playing without him (Norgaard being his apparent deputy).

I have no issue with a less glamorous player winning awards, I in fact have a huge soft spot for all central midfielders irrespective of their roles as that was the position I played at youth team level! but let’s not compare Rodri to Rice.

Rodri was flawless and controlled the entire centre of the pitch, in every single game - he made the game look effortless because he’s such an intelligent player - Rice is Scott Parker plus a few inches in size. A very very good consistent player, but does not come close to the best 8’s the game has seen.

Rice doesn't come close to the best 8's in the game because he's a 6. In his own words:

“You look at the best number sixes in the world; Obviously Man City, Rodri is arguably the best, how he plays, how he’s always central, how he always connects the back line and the forward players, how he’s always in the middle of the pitch.”

And I did say "Rice is growing into a Rodri-type figure for me".

The reason he's been more influential than Rodri this season is that Rodri has been out for a year, and players normally have a "transitional" season after such a long lay-off. That's a large part of why City have struggled. Way off the pace last year without him, still behind, but not as far, this year because he's not at the same level. That is normal and it's something I talked about in August:

"Rodri will be in and out all season, and won't hit his new level until next year.
If he didn't play for City I'd say that was a damn shame because he was a hell of a player before the injury, but he's going to be a bit less, at least for this season. And I can't help thinking they've rushed him back too, when he probably could have done with a bit more recovery time."

He describes himself as a six. I'm taking his word for that.
Donald Trump says he’s not racist…

Look at the heat maps between the two this season, all will be revealed. He has performed the 6 role at times last year for Arsenal and for England. However your contention is that he’s been player of the season *this year*

It’s a little challenging to understand your perspective on that, when you are struggling to recognise the role he is performing.
