I think I just blew a humour fuse!!

This England team is so shite it hurts. Long ball tactic and shit set up. Henderson has to drop down in defence to collect the ball, while sturridge drop down in midfield. And it just gets wrse!

Its impossible to judge JH based on these three games, as this England team is wank.

Im guessing he regrets not going on his hols instead.
And dont get me started on Pearce.

Should have never taken Henderson off.

Henderson has been shit for all the three games .Jones looks like a very good buy for the scum .

It's not about winning for the u21's at these events, it's all about getting to know your future full international team mates and the style of football you play.

oh

this. jones looked quality, assured in defending and confident enough to take it forward and play it out
henderson just misplaced passes and his movement was terrible

The guy from coming to america? What!

It's freakin Arsenio Hall, man... wo wo wo wo wo wo

Its more about the defence being constantly under pressure. Henderson had zero movement a head of him, and has been paired wtih mancienne and muamba. Anyone would look bad under those circumstances...

I can't stand a manager like pearce , it's all raw emotion and 'gung ho' approach which ends up being exposed and you just look naive and stupid . Lennon at celtic is the same.

and it's much easier to find defensive talent than it is attacking ....so yeah Jones might have looked ok but again as a defender you can still look good when the team is playing shite , in advanced positions it's harder if nobody is making runs , you're tactic is to hoof it etc etc .
So while Henderson didn't look great we have to hope he can step up in our team with some decent players around him .

I wouldn't read too much into Henderson's performances for the u21's, Stevie G often looks shite when he plays for England.

I was baffled when I saw the team selection. Why wasnt McEachran selected? Especially considering that Wilshare wasnt going to participate.
Spearing would have been a better choice than Muamba.

Because Pearce typifies everything that is wrong with the England setup, he started Manciene in every game CM when he's not even good enough to play in defence. Danny Rose in a forward 3, chose not to start Wickham. The players may not be upto Spanish standard but that doesn't hide the fact what a poor Coach Pearce is. Until the likes cloggers of like Pearce are removed from Coaching England's brightest talents, Senior side will not get any better.

Wholeheartedly agree.

I've only seen the England-Spain, England-Czech Rep. and Spain-Ukraine matches but my favourite players of the tournament so far are Ander Herrera, Thiago and Mata.

61 - England played more unsuccessful long balls than any other team in the U21 European Championships group stage.

69% - Fabrice Muamba's 2010-11 PL tackle success rate (from 108), compared to 56% by Michael Mancienne (from 34).

Stuart Pearce is expected to sign a new two-year contract to remain as England Under-21 head coach, despite their exit from the European Championship.

A 2-1 loss to the Czech Republic meant England exited at the group stages of the tournament in Denmark, during which they failed to win a game.

However, the Football Association are adamant that the contract offered to Pearce in March will not be withdrawn.

The new deal will see Pearce, 49, remain in charge until 2013.

Should he put pen to paper, the former Manchester City boss will lead the Young Lions into their qualifying campaign for the 2013 European Championship finals in Israel.

The ex-England left-back - who has held the post of Under-21 coach for four years - is also favourite to coach the Great Britain football side at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Following his side's exit from the European Championship on Sunday, Pearce said his side had been handed the worst possible draw.

The defeat by the Czech Republic came after draws with both Spain and Ukraine, while in the other group Belarus made the semi-finals despite losing two of their three games.

"People don't realise the magnitude of the group we were put in," said Pearce, whose side came into the event ranked number one having reached the semi-final and final in the last two tournaments.

He added: "You've only got to look at the other group. A team's come out of that group having lost two matches.

"That tells you they might have lumped the stronger teams together. But that's tournament football."

Belarus beat Iceland before losing to group winners Switzerland and hosts Denmark, but still qualified for the semi-finals, where they will play Spain.

England looked to have set up a last-four meeting with Switzerland after Danny Welbeck put them ahead against the Czech Republic with 14 minutes left - but Jan Chramosta equalised in the 89th minute and Tomas Pekhart struck the winner in stoppage-time.

"Once you get your nose in front at that stage of the game, you hope to keep hold of it and see the game out," said Pearce.

"I wouldn't say we gave up. But we probably should have done better at the end. We have to take it on the chin, learn, and go on next season."

Basel and Switzerland talent Xherdan Shaqiri has been linked to Europe’s top clubs and his agent admits “we have spoken to Roma.”

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder is a Swiss international born in Kosovo who has been inspirational so far in the Under-21 European Championship.

“We have spoken to Roma director Walter Sabatini,” agent Ulisse Savini told ForzaRoma.info.

“At the moment we are just at the level of a chat, but there is definitely interest from Roma.
Sabatini knows Shaqiri very well and recently enquired after him.

“I believe his price-tag is between €6m and €10m, depending on what Basel ask for. As we told Sabatini during our chat, Shaqiri is enthusiastic about a club like Roma.

“He wants to feel the giddy heights of a top side and Roma have all the characteristics he is looking for.”

Among others, he has been linked with Liverpool, Manchester United and Fiorentina.

Shaqiri is a regular in the senior Swiss side, but is currently lighting up the Under-21 European Championship.

Another shit match. Brutal World Cup 2010, just as brutal Euro under 21s 2011. Fair to say International Football sucks.

@henrywinter: What A Goal. Spain surely in U21s final now, brilliant awareness and finish by Jeffren. Pure class. 3-1

@henrywinter: Another Spanish masterclass on how football should be played. Possession & quickening tempo at right time. Thiago, Mata, JaviM etc all class
