Ex-Reds you still can't stand

Watched Reds V Newcastle '97 (the second 4-3) highlights today and was reminded what absolute dogshit David James was. Couldn't stand the prick and time hasn't softened my feelings.
Dean Saunders was another one.
Who still makes your mad years after they've retired?

Apart from the obvious ones like Diouf and Ince, I've always thought Ray Houghton was a knobhead.

Whelan is another that seems a bit weird and bitter, but maybe both instances are just to do with "being a pundit" (although it hasn't done Carragher any harm)

There's hardly any I care enough about to have any strongly negative opinions really.

And lots of players I couldn't stand when they played for Liverpool (Joe Allen, Lucas, Crouch) I actually think are quite sound, it was hardly personal.

So it's very, very few really. I suppose Balotelli might count, but I hated him before he even signed for Liverpool.

None just because they weren't much good. For example Nicky Tanner was without question the worst player I've ever seen in the red shirt but it just doesn't seem worth the trouble to dislike the poor lump. I do have my own nominations though:

McMoneyman - led the Spice Boys, then had the almighty cheek to take offence when the club decided to sell him and used that as an excuse to shaft us over his move to Real;

Lawrenson - constantly on our case as a pundit for whatever reason, to such an extent that he ended up getting booed when he went to games at Anfield;

Spit the f*****g Dog - utter, utter sh!te both on the field and off it. GH's rejection of Nico Anelka to buy this gimp was his first serious mistake, and it was a doozie.

Dean Saunders just makes me laugh. He's either an idiot or a clever person playing an idiot. He'll quote some awful old adage and then explain it, usually badly, and then try to use it to illuminate everything from why managers get sacked to why Wales is the size it is. He's like a Celtic Garth Crooks.

David James - ditto. I wish I could see a clip of when he went round a Lowry exhibition - this was during his 'I am an expert pencil sketcher' phase - and evaluated all of Lowry's drawings. That was priceless.

As for ones I really hate, I'm not sure there are any. There will be, once Moreno goes.

Andy Carroll and Balotelli.

Both obviously not good enough even before they signed.

Nothing spiteful really, but it just would have been better if Michael Thomas had never been born.

After all your focus on winning is everything, the two reds you can't stand combine 8 leagues and 4 FA Cups in addition to one big ear, while both represented the some of our finest teams ever.... Respect to that one mate.

Hate is a strong word

I disliked Tommy Smith as a person (I met him a few times as a little lad) and he didn't seem to become a nicer person after he retired. He was however, an immense CB for us and scored in a UEFA Cup final

Phil Neal has done a few twatty things

Razor Ruddock was a massive knob and still is

Craig Johnston. He invented the minibar that automatically charges anything you touch to your room, the fucking grass
Also invented the predator football Boot. Not quite up there in terms of cuntishness as the mini bar charge thing.

Multiple people to hate rather than Carroll himself. I do acknowledge: he was as thick as pig shit. I remember one game, Boxing Day, against Blackburn, typically flat atmosphere at Anfield, people were shouting, 'You're offside!' and he'd trot onside. That happened all through the match. Bloody hell. But I was told by somebody who knew him from his youth days, he said Carroll right from the start had landed when he jumped on his heels. The Newcastle coaching staff, who in those days just sat about reading the Racing Post, looked at him and muttered, 'That'll fuck his body up,' and then carried on reading. No one corrected him. The result was he was in a god awful mess before we signed him. How the hell we failed to spot how fecked up he was is a scandal. How West Ham failed to realise it is bloody brain-burstingly bizarre. But he's one of the worst-coached players in modern history. And it's usually presented as though it's just 'one of those things'. It could have been corrected when he was a kid.

Owen, and to a slightly lesser extent (purely because he has a personality) McMoneyman

Andy Carroll fucked off leaving a trashed house and owing a year's rent and ended up settling out of court for the over hundred grand's worth of damage and theft. Fucking bellend.

Oh, does the hate have to contain a degree of rationality? I fucked up then.

Just heard today from two West Ham regulars in the office - that West Ham have the option of extending his contract by 2 seasons at the end of this season (I think). His agent is putting his name out there for any London clubs willing to take him - what a surprise .. no one is interested at the moment with his injury and form record. He is really desperate to stay in London - has moved his whole family down here now. Looking back - I just cannot believe how we wasted that Torres money in our hour of desperation.

I don't think there are any ex-reds whom I can't stand.

I do find Michael Owen disappointing because he does not seem to have any affection for the club. However, in a way I get that because the Kopites never took to him in the same way that they adored Fowler.

I don't understand how some of these guys are still on tv representing Liverpool though. I have seen Mellor, Kirkland, Matteo, JAR etc all referencing Liverpool as "we".

JAR is just terrible on tv. He did a casual segment on Malaysian tv as a "Liverpool Legend" where I thought he was smug and obnoxious to the fans. I have even seen him on fucking CNN commenting about us in a post match review.

A buddy of mine met David James at Chester Race course (I think I once posted a story about it on here) Apparently he was sound. Unlike Collymore who was a complete shit.

I'll never forgive Torres for the way he fucking downed tools like a complete cunt.
