Positives - I wasn’t bored. We had them sorted for most of the game apart from Cleary on the left winger. Szobo immense for 99.9% of the game

More than a few “moments” it’s true but I wasn’t ever really concerned, the scoreline did flatter but we were always winning this

Quality counts
 
I hope Slobs decks Slot for making him play right back yet again when we had a right back on the bench.

But equally this is 17th in league 1 coming to the premier League champions. And we once again looked completely creatively bereft until we brought on 200m of attacking talent
 
Yeah Cleary looked a real prospect there. Assumed he'd be a lower league journeyman and about 25, but he was clearly a prospect in the past. Keep an eye on him. If he can be that consistent with the right attitude, he's a Premier League player.

As for us, second half was better. But again, half arsed pressing and tracking, slow side to side ponderous play for most of the first half, relying on wonder goals to put us in front. Not much in the way of creativity. Shaky at the back against a relegation-threatened League One side who could've scored a few more goals, and would have with a touch more quality.

Let's hope Woland is right and this is the last season of Slotball.
 
Not a great performance but it was masked by some quality finishes.

That Cleerey looks the best LW at either club. Hell of a performance for a 21 year old at Anfield. People will watch him after that.Barnsley should be proud themselves. Defended well, worked all night and played some really good footie when allowed to.

For us, it's nice 3 new signings got on the score sheet.

He’s not very good, has been injured and even I, a girls U17 coach, wouldn’t have thrown him in on 2-1. 3-1 and it’s a different story.
 
I bet you said «I know it was good for you, but for me it could have been better» the first time you touched a pair of tits.
 
There was a good 15-20 minute spell where none of our players seemed to want to pass to Rio on the left.

Almost like Slot told them to ignore him.

When he gets the ball. Good things happen.

That said. He should have been hooked at the same time as Chiesa. Match fitness is real.

Hoping its cramp rather than groin.
