I'll PM you what i know. Don't want to speculate.

A player i think could become very good if the right manager gets hold of him is Papadopoulos at Schalke. A greek version of Phil Jones if you like.

I mentioned papadopoulos in the "bundesliga scout" thread a while back. He's a fucking beast that lad. Big future ahead of him.

Wouldn't it be cool to pin this thread and have all the names put together in the original post? We can look back on it in a few years to see who actually made it. Or am I just being a hysterical fanny?

Quite like the look of that Azpilicueta kid at right back for l'OM.

We won't get him though. We'll end up giving Everton 17M for Tony fucking Hibbert.

Yup. He was one of the RBs I was thinking about in the Glen Johnson thread.

I think I mentioned him before he moved to Marseille.

So a Kelly/Flanagan RB pair is too risky in most of your opinion?

I don't think that's too shabby actually. We need to invest money in midfield and forward positions, and i don't mind if we cannibalize our defense a bit to achieve that.

Oh I agree, kelly/Flanno is good enough. I'm just agreeing with the identification of good players!

I don't think it is good enough. I don't want to see Flanagan start 20 odd games next season. Not unless there is some kind of unexpected dramatic improvement.

Kelly's not a right back, and Flanagan looks shite.
Flanagan looks a capable back up,never a world beater but capable (needs to put on some mass though) and whilst it may not be kellys natural position, he certainly excels there atm. We also have that irish lad coming through.

I'd prefer to spend our money on a gaston ramirez rather than a azpilcueta. That's all my point is.

Bas Dost, 28 goals in 30 games
Plays for Herenveen in the Dutch league.
Age 22

Ola John - Twente (contributed 22 league goals + assists)
Luciano Narsingh, Bas Dost - Herenveen (contributed 23, 32 league goals + assists respectively)

Heerenveen sporting director Johan Hansma has revealed that the club have turned down a bid from Ajax for Luciano Narsingh.

The Eredivisie giants already attempted to lure the winger to the Amsterdam ArenA in the January transfer window, but a move failed to materialise.

Nevertheless, Ajax are still keen to sign the 21-year-old and have been granted permission to open talks with Narsingh, despite seeing their first offer rejected.

"Ajax have already made an official offer, but that has been turned down," Hansma told De Telegraaf.

"We are eager to hold on to Luciano, but we know that he wants to move. We have now told his agent to see whether they can agree personal terms.

"If he doesn't sign a new deal with us, we will try to sell him in order to prevent him from leaving on a free transfer next year. However, if nobody meets our demands, we will be more than happy to keep him for another season."

Narsingh's current contract is due to expire at the end of the 2012-13 season, and an offer of about six million euros could be needed to lure him away from the Abe Lenstra Stadion.

Certainly one of the more impressive YouTube videos of young players I've seen of late.

My only beef is that I've seen him in a couple of games against better opposition than what he's used to in Norway and he's failed to impress me. I can see there's a proper footballer in him but I'm not sure he's ready for the big move yet.

Having said that a few years in say Holland or Germany or perhaps even with FC Copenhagen where he'd play in the Champions League and he could be ready for the highest level.

that's a bit harsh. I thought he looked capable last season but has gone to pieces a little this season. should never have been chosen over kelly on the first game of the season.

To be honest I agree with Ryan.
Seeing a player like McLaughlin in the reserves it's obvious to see that he's a much better player than Flanno.
I had high hopes for him, I even thought he was better than Robinson for a while but I've noticed that he's old fashioned fullback lately. Does a decent job defensively but he's not good enough going forward and his passing is a bit suspect. Still young though, but IMO he's in the same bracket as Stephen Wright, Otsemobor, Peltier, Raven etc. Just don't see him making it.
McLaughlin is so much better, N.Ireland ftw.

He's 19 and stick thin. He'll get better, whether it'll be enough none of us know, but I can't help being irritated when someone who's so keen on giving young players a go is so ready to be negative after a difficult spell. There's absolutely no point trying to nurture youth if you don't accept they're going to have really tough periods and make plenty of errors, because you can bet the same will apply to your precious Suso and McLaughlin if they get their chances in the first team. Still, by then there'll no doubt be other 17 year olds guaranteed to make it we can console ourselves with.

I could be wrong, and I'd happily have some humble pie in that case but I just don't see any real potential in Flanno.
Well not enough to play for a top tier team.
I feel that I've become a bit more conservative regarding the reserves, I mean I was all for giving Patches a chance but I see so much potential in Sterling, Suso, McLaughlin and Robinson that I'm really confident that they'll make it. They ooze quality.
I'm also excited about Adorjan and Ecclestone to be honest.

Think you are all being very harsh on Flanno. At times he's looked very good and then he's had two mares. To early to write him off.

Eccleston will not make the grade I'm afraid.
