Formation next season?

Would it be fair to say, we're more likely to see 4-3-3 formation next season?

I think 4-3-3 might be the way to go, very few sides play a straight 4-4-2, but i suppose it's about being flexible and having a plan B?

Interesting subject for a thread, but perhaps a bit previous. I'm sure we'll be looking at summer signings with a particular pattern in mind, but even so a fair bit will depend on whom we actually manage to bring in.

Yes as i said before, obviously we'll need to make these signings first before we can look at a suitable formation, but it's pretty clear which areas we're looking to strengthen.

As for Meireles, i would be surprised if he's a starter for us next season. With Gerrard coming back in and us certain to buy at least one central midfielder, i think Meireles will struggle to find a place in the side.

Knowing Kuyt, he'll manage to find his way into the first 11. He was brilliant in the second half of the season.

Hopefully Raul will have more competition for a place, but I rate his chances of winning that place more highly than you do. IMO we clearly missed him in CM when he wasn't playing, or when he was shunted out wide (which comes to the same thing in the end, because he's not half the player out there that he is in the middle). The likes of Henderson, if we sign him, might replace Raul in certain away games when we need to dig in, which is the one area of the game in which Raul is lacking, but I think he's important to our attacking effectiveness and overall shape.

Agree about Kuyt. My feeling is he'll be regarded predominantly as an option up front now. We need better out wide.

I like Meireles, intelligent and energetic player.

Just think he'll need to really raise him game for next season. suppose every player will but in the middle of midfield competition for places will be as fierce as ever - as i said with Gerrard coming back in and at least one new Centre Mid coming in.

The extra competition for places will bring out the best in players like Meireles.
