What ever happened to that FM Wet Dream (cheers for the terminology BtB).

King of Nike at 14, then trails at Chelsea/Utd/Real and decided to go to Benfica and havent heard anything of note since..

He's got to be about 19 now, so time for a 'proper' move?

He's not very good and he hasn't developed. He wasn't ever very good.
 
the weight of expectation placed on 'the next Pele' was too much for Adu, who was extremely average for DC & Real Salt Lake. Last year, he moved to Benfica where he didn't play too much, but when he did, was fairly solid. He's still very small and I doubt he'll reach even 'half' the dreams the American media machine churned out for him ... He's a solid Yank, just like Frankie Hejduk and Claudio Reyna ...

Didier Drogba in a Russian accent has a very nice sound to it also..


What've we got? Fernando Torres in a scally accent sounds pretty good..

Yep. Two syllables really is the way to go for a striker. Shearer, Dalglish, Puskas, Torres, Fowler etc all sound great when a commentator shouts it.

Not sure how Rush was so good then...
 
I just watched him against Spain and Argentina, and he stood out from his teammates. He has a very good touch and field awareness. He's not world beater, but I will wager that he will be our best player in another year or two. Not saying much, but there it is.

He's certainly not a bad player.

Just had a failed season on loan at Monaco and they've turned down the option to buy him.

His total carear stats so far are 125 appearences and 18 goals..
 
I think a lot of the hype and value in Adu comes in his marketing potential. If he was a top player at a top club, you could possibly sell that team and their merchandise all across America, making that team LOADS of money.
