Hes been there for 2.5 years now and was given a 3 year deal when he signed.

Ive gone right off frees.

You just seem to end up with some chump nobody wanted on a 70k 5 year contract, and then when you try and sell him on cos it turns out hes shit, you cant get shot because of the obsene wages!

Darren Pratley is the 2nd best central midfielder in The Championship and IMO easily good enough for the EPL. He's out of contract in the summer and can sign a pre-contract now.

I would love it if we could offload Lucas & Poulsen for about £7m and replace them with Andy King (Leicester) who is the best CM in The Championship and will be a huge star & Pratley.

King & Pratley would give us signifcantly better cover for Meirelse & Gerrard than Lucas & Poulsen and King would be pushing for an automatic place in no time at all.

King would cost us about £7m so in theory this "swap" would cost us nothing.

Ivan Rakitic's gone to Sevilla for a reported fee of £1.3 million. And according to official sources(i.e. on their official website), Sevilla beat off offers from "Inter, Juve, Benfica, Manchester City, Everton, Sampdoria, Valencia, Villarreal and Atlético de Madrid".

That's because we keep buying shit players.

Its very possible to get good players too, even if theyre free.

Milan are prepared to risk losing Andrea Pirlo by holding off from talks regarding a new contract.

The 31-year-old's existing deal runs out at the end of the season.

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands Inter, Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid are all interested.

Adriano Galliani has decided to wait until April to discuss the futures of nine Milan players.

Pirlo's agent Tullio Tinti has already sought to open negotiations but to no avail.

The Italy international currently earns €5m a year, although bonuses to reward qualifying for the Champions League or winning the Scudetto mean it can rise to €7m.

As it stands, this deal no longer tallies with Milan's efforts to reduce their wage bill and Galliani will try and persuade Pirlo to take a pay cut.

I've always rated Srna but I guess that ship has sailed. He's a bit old now, isn't he?

Fiorentina are already planning for next season and have earmarked Hamburg midfielder Piotr Trochowski as a potential transfer target.

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands the 27-year-old is Fiorentina's No 1 priority this summer, but they face competition from Sporting Lisbon.

Trochowski is out of contract in the summer and would represent a low cost addition to Fiorentina's midfield.

Liverpool will attempt to secure the signature of the French international defender Philippe Mexes on a free transfer this summer should Kenny Dalglish’s prime defensive target, Gary Cahill, spurn Anfield in favour of Manchester United.

The Scot sees the Bolton defender as the ideal long-term replacement for Jamie Carragher, but knows he would be forced to pay a premium price — as much as £18 million — to see off United, persistent suitors for the 25 year-old, who has become one of the most coveted players in the Premier League.

Should Cahill indicate that he prefers a move to Old Trafford, Liverpool will turn their attentions to Mexes, whose £75,000-a-week contract at Roma expires this summer.

Liverpool's newly-promoted director of football, Damien Comolli, is a long-term admirer of the former Auxerre player and is thought to be confident he can strike a deal despite interest from Arsenal and AC Milan.

Talks over a new deal at Stadio Olimpico have been ongoing for 18 months but Mexes, a cornerstone of the French national side under new manager Laurent Blanc, has thus far failed to agree terms, with Roma’s boardroom engulfed in similar chaos to that which afflicted Liverpool before the arrival, last October, of Fenway Sports Group.

Thomas DiBenedetto, himself an investor in FSG, is expected to complete a takeover of the Serie A side in the coming days after nine months in which the club has been controlled — and half-owned - by UniCredit, the Italian bank.

The American billionaire, though, is unlikely to arrive in time to stop Mexes calling time on seven years in Rome.

The club are unlikely to return to the Champions League next season and face another summer of upheaval, with caretaker manager Vincenzo Montella likely to be replaced and several senior players, including Daniele De Rossi, keen to depart.

The wages Mexes would be able to command at Anfield as a free transfer may tempt him to join Liverpool even if the club fail to qualify for Europe, while it is believed FSG would consider signing a player outside their preferred age bracket — Mexes will be 29 — as he would still be able to command considerable resale value.

FSG are expected to commit substantial funds to Dalglish’s rebuilding project at Anfield
once the Scot’s own future is finalised — negotiations are underway on a two-year deal to appoint him as permanent manager — with Comolli stressing earlier this week that he was expecting “a busy summerâ€.

Dalglish remains keen on signing Charlie Adam, the Blackpool midfielder, while both Ashley Young and Matt Jarvis, of Aston Villa and Wolves, are long-term targets.

Liverpool have also examined the likes of Antoine Griezmann, of Real Sociedad, St Etienne’s Dimitri Payet and Rennes’ Yann M’Vila.

As much as I want Cahill to join I don't think he warrants an £18 Million price tag with a year left in his contract. £12 Million tops I say.

Demba Ba and Thomas Hitzlsperger allowed to leave West Ham United on free transfers

Demba Ba and Thomas Hitzlsperger have activated relegation clauses in their contracts at West Ham United allowing them to leave this summer on free transfers, while Scott Parker has formally told the club that he definitely wants to go also.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/west-ham/8573852/Demba-Ba-and-Thomas-Hitzlsperger-allowed-to-leave-West-Ham-United-on-free-transfers.html

Though Demba Ba signed for an undisclosed fee, given that the failed Stoke City move (prior to his Upton Park move) was rumoured to be £6m, that's a silly clause and quite a couple of millions wasted.

Fantastically stupid move by the fruit and veg sellers
