you can't have seen much of him then. I predict in no more than 3 years he'll be one of the worlds best players.
You are right I've not seen much of him, but from what I've seen there's absolutely no chance of him to become one of the worlds best players. No way Spidey.

I can see he's got a quick pair of feet and that he's decent one on one but apart from that he's been drifting out of games, making strange decisions and not looking much more than decent to me. The hype surrounding some of Bilbao's players has gone through the roof but from where I am sitting Martinez looking the most likely to live up to it.

Muniain will be a good player alright but in the 'one out of many'-bracket, is my bet.

I watched him closely at the Under 21's Euro's last summer and I wasn't overly impressed.
Odd flashes of brilliance but often ran up blind alleys.
He was obviously a better option than Downing last summer though.

Signing Hoillet is a no-brainer. There's every chance he could become a top player but even if he failed at Anfield we would easily be able to sell him for £5m+ next summer thus recouping his wages and making a decent profit also.

I don't rate him half as much as some of the people on here (concerns over his decision making and vision), but you're still completely right.

He didn't impress me much during the Euro's either - disappeared in an admittedly very good Spanish team.

You describe him pretty well there, odd flash of brilliance but long uninspired spells in between. Still early days and he's young but he's no Ronaldo or anything near that level.

As you say would probably have made a bigger impact than Downing.

You have to take into consideration mind that Bilbao is playing very very well as a team at the moment and as such it's much easier to do well. There's every chance he could have moved to Liverpool or any other struggling team and look every bit as bad as say Downing.

I've got to say, I've only seen Muniain when Bilbao played in Europe but I've not been that impressed by him either.

If Muniain and Hoilett played at LFC this season, people on here would be calling them "not good enough".

Because fans are clueless.

You called Real and Bayern two distinctly average teams recently

if I said that it was based on the semi final game and obviously not meant in general? I said chelsea had a good chance of beating them and I stand by that.

Kagawa then, he's absolutely brilliant. Not that he'd join us.

If he doesn't stay at Dortmund he'll come to England with United and Chelsea being the most likely addresses. At least that's what's being said in German newspapers.

Other fringe players for when the above are injured/suspended:
Ryan McLaughlin - turns 18 in september, very talented but it's too early, he isn't even a regular for the reserves yet, but he did well in the games he played for them.
Wisdom - not impressed.
Jack Robinson - Currently our best reserve fullback.
Coady - not impressed
Adorjan - should play a part
Suso - love him.
Pacheco - no chance, I'm sorry to say
I like that line up, except Suarez shouldn't play behind Carroll, we should have an AM there. Sterling isn't ready to start IMO and we're missing some Italian flavour 😉.

lol so you'd have the same formation but have Aquilani instead of Sterling and switch Aquilani to the AM position and Suarez to the left?

Yeah, those other fringe players that I mentioned, I would only want them to be involved in matchday squads, first-team training sessions, travelling and eating with the senior team, in general, getting adjusted to the professional set-up at Liverpool FC to aid them from becoming star-struck when they are ready (which I think Spearing mentioned of Gerrard recently) and improve them as players, not necessarily starting any games. But if in the case our squad are littered with injuries, then these guys will be able to step in as they won't be so new to the whole experience.

I'd have one of the players I mention in my signature.
I'm all for giving the reserves a chance, but only those who are showing promise.

IrishRed, that team would struggle to obtain even 7th sorry to say.

That Clyne lad I've never heard of must be some player if he's better than Glen Johnson already.

...and if we off-load these players then that will help fund one, possibly two, of your signature stars. 😉

I just don't want to see Johnson playing defence anymore, especially in the way we play, we would need to be a possession-dominant team to see the best out of him. Right player, wrong team. Like some others have said on here, we should sell whilst his value is still at its highest. At the same time I believe Kelly is solid at the back, a stronger tackler, more useful in the air, greater concentration, underrated going forward and exhibits decent pace - Attributes I look for in a full-back.

Clyne was the best young player in the Football League in 2010, Crystal Palace's best player in 2011 after winning young player of the year the two consecutive years previous, and was selected in the Championship Team of the Year in 2012. Awards that full-backs are rarely presented with. What more can he do to deserve a shot at the Premier League and he's definitely not a one season wonder. IMO he would be a great replacement for Kelly when/if he was injured.

Cheers, will look out for that Clyne lad.

I want us to play possession based football, I want us to control games, I want my full backs to be all attacking-minded and shrewd on the ball. I want us to keep Johnson.

For me Kelly's real future is in central despite him doing a decent job on the right.

Clyne would happily join us if we offload Johnson. I'm not so keen on the idea but if we need cash....

What do people think of Diame at Wigan? Athletic, bit of a ball winner, not the worst on the ball. Could he be worth a go on a free if we offload a midfielder or two?

A good player, but good enough for a team competing for 7th? I'm not so sure

Just read that Robert Green's contract is expiring. Linked with move to Malaga today.
