FSG need to back this manager

There's a lot to be impressed about Brendan Rodgers

He's trimmed the clubs wage bill
He's bought well on the whole
He's managing the personalities pretty well
He's dealing we'll with a "skeptical on spending" ownership group
Hs got us playing a whole new style of play
He's passed the Suarez test so far
He's played well against the big clubs so far

I am sure you can add to the list. There's not much can be said against him.

So what I am saying is, FSG are lucky to have him so far. And they need to back him. We don't hold onto our star talent if we don't see progress, and we need to buy some talent if we are going to progress. Obvious, I know, but today, I just felt he deserves better than the backing he's had thus far

FSG, invest in the managers vision, please. Back him up - you're lucky to have him.

He's shown some encouraging signs but there are also some lingering question marks.

He's got a lot to prove and I don't think we're anywhere near the point where he deserves anything or we should feel like we're lucky to have him.

He has been terrific in basically everything he's done so far.
A few shit signings but you can see he's learning all the time.
It was an inspired choice to hire him.

What's the question marks Keni? Curious,

I think FSG are lucky, in that its hard to get someone in to do what he's done (who's a top manager) and also deal with their frugality and cost cutting. I'm not saying we're lucky, I'm saying they are, because he's cleaning up the previous mess and getting on with it.

Biggest question mark for me is if he realizes our weakness in midfield. We won't be ready to win things if it's not sorted. It's worrying how there have been pretty much zero links to types of mids we need.

He's not a top manager yet though. He's achieved very little in the game so far. We gave him a break after a decent spell at Swansea - he's got a lot to prove.

He's handled himself pretty well this summer, true, and I've been encouraged by the type of players we've been looking at in the market.

I want to see him build a balanced side - one that combines defensive solidity with attacking flair. I want to see a side that is greater than the sum of it's parts. I want to see improve players and the team on the training ground rather than relying on a cheque book to solve all problems.

Good points. A top manager bar RB would not have taken this job given the amount of turnaround work required though. Anyway, he's over halfway through the turnaround, and I have faith in his knowledge of the game and he seems clever. I secretly hope for a RB return to propel us back to the CL, if this doesn't work, but BR is doing well thus far.

Louis Van Gaal wanted the job. So that puts that one to bed.

A lad that takes his willy out to motivate players may not have been considered a top manager by all concerned, but enough of these tangents, the manager deserves better backing than he's currently getting IMHO.

Ok, boss, Louis Van Gaal was a top manager pothibility, who was interested, but didn't wanna work (potentially) with a bunch of technical directors. His willy may have also been an issue for les Americains.

My apologies for typing without thinking at times but ya see I'm getting older, running a business, raising two kids, managing a few dozen people, and on the road a lot so ya see it might happen again. My brain ain't what it used to be.

So my question to you, has BR earned more backing than he's getting you think?

So what's so fantastic about it? Surely every purchase carries risk? You can never negate risk by refusing to spend. Isn't not spending more risky? Especially since he's proven himself to be an astute buyer, he's no Kennoli.

He's getting fantastic backing. They're stopping him wasting money on shite.
Let's judge that one at the end of the transfer window - and calling Willian shite is arguably a silly in itself, as the guy has gone for 30m under the orders of the best manager in the world and joined a top club. FSG probably judge the financial cost/benefit to be too fine to sanction the deal - if Kenny has wanted Willian for the same price at the beginning of his reign, FSG would probably have said yes.

The weird thing is that Willian seemed to be whored around, so I don't mind missing out on those players.

LVG is one of the best at turning teams around, but then he creates conflicts single-handedly and he is much more stubborn than Rodgers. This place would have been a media circus with LVG in charge, I don't think you'd want that.

I agree with localny, FSG is lucky to have Rodgers and he deserves more support than he's been getting.

Has Rodgers justified buying Allen and Borini for £25 million?
I understand why they're cautious.

Is the glass half empty or full though modo...

Cout and Stur for 19m
Mignolet n kolo for 12m?

On those six signings he's had a pretty good success rate, or so it seems, so far

This is true. It is to BR's credit that he isn't compounding the problem by playing them regardless of their form.. I do think Allen will come good too. Borini.....I think there is a good player in there, but we're too big for him at this stage in his career.

The committee has you mean. He signings pre committee...not looking that good.

Sheik, have you been in in those meetings? No one knows who decided. The first two were obviously his though. And yes doubtful. Sturridge and Cout could have been his too. but we dont know. He still deserves more backing in this market, him and his fecking committee.

*brings out the melon*

It might seem I'm not a fan of Rodgers, I am. I think he's grown into the role brilliantly this summer with all the shit he's had to deal with. However I do think FSG will back him financially but only if they think the player is worth it. Brendan has said as much himself. We do need to get in some first teamers before the window shuts. A proper DM and an upgrade on Agger are the priority. Get them and I think we'll be in a strong position.

Good post.

Gerrard is not a weakness. Fuck off.
Henderson is playing better than Eriksen or Mkhitarblah would be.
Lucas and Allen are exactly the type of holding players he needs. Tiny, weak, crabs. The idea is we have the ball and keep it at all costs. Mascherano would be pointless for that.

Unless Alonso is available, its better not to piss money away on a cunt.

I'd like to see some steel brought in, but to be totally honest,

Maybe it isnt as bad as I make out at times. Our defence at the end of last seaso, during pre-season and the start of this season is pretty fucking rock solid.
So maybe im worried for nothing. And as far as attacking talent goes. Well we have a 60m player to come into the side that has just won the first two games of the season without conceeding a goal.
A lot of players need to get better and tactically we need to be better at adapting but maybe there arent that many deficiencies?
If there are we will see them next Saturday.
