Gerrard Return...?

I'm in two minds about this.

Klopp is starting to make an impression and hopefully consistency with it. If SG wants to come back and learn and apply himself at the Academy and work his way up then I'm for it. If not, then I'd be concerned that this could upset the balance. Things are good and improving, why upset that to accommodate someone else.

Playing is a different discipline to coaching and managing.

I think the impression a lot of outsiders got of Stevie when he was at Liverpool was that he behaved like he was strutting around the place with the biggest swinging dick. But there's a new guy in town, and he's packing more length (and probably more girth too) than Stevie. If Stevie can take not being the biggest guy on set anymore and join the queue with the rest of the fluffers, then this might work. He's not the main attraction anymore, he has to do the bending over.

Klopp is to strong a character and a Gerrard return in any capacity will be contingent on his agreement. The Gaffer understands our culture and Gerrard may well be used in some capacity be it a bit part player or getting experience as a coach. While the legend that Gerrard is casts a long shadow, Klopp is King of the Bright Lights!

How weirdly sexual

When's the last time the manager was more popular than the players?

I mean right now, our biggest star seems to be Klopp.

Coutinho or Firmino or Sturridge < Klopp

Suarez > Rodgers

Gerrard > Dalglish?

Gerrard > Hodgson

Gerrard > Benitez?

Fowler > Houllier

Fowler > Evans

We don't have a Gerrard or a Fowler, so maybe that's not fair, but what do you mean by popular? With fans? The media?

Klopp is certainly the most obviously extroverted and charismatic manager we've possibly ever had. Kenny obviously had amazing presence too, but he's infamously never been one to play the media game. Klopp's just so very larger than life that he's understandably the biggest "star".

But as I have said many times, I couldn;t care less how much the media, pundits, fans etc love him, if he wins trophies that's all I care about.

In some ways, though, I think his immense cult of personality is good for us. He emanates success and positivity. That needs to translate into medals.

The fans.
I agree with the above, Klopp seems to be the outgoing type. He's looking to entertain but also divert pressure from the team on to him instead.
Klopp is currently in KCDNW (Klopp can't do no wrong) mode. People don't seem to get too uptight if Coutinho's on the bench or Sturridge for that matter.

Long may it continue. It's a sign even the most moany bastards are happy. Or as happy as they'll ever get.

It certainly helps that he is very, very easy to like (and funny/ passionate etc) and everyone was delighted (or jealous) that he was going to manage us. There's been little dissent.

Other clubs' fans seem unable to help liking him as well and, while that's a lot less important, it doesn't do any harm.

Shanks was at least as outgoing and charismatic BTW but in a different, less flamboyant era it "wasn't done" to make as much of a splash as Klopp does now. A repeat of that kind of root-and-branch improvement would do very nicely though.
