Goals on Sunday

I dare not mention what he says, it will be taken as a critique of yesterday's match. But, yes, he is talking.

He HAS rewritten history about Carroll, claiming today that when he came in Carroll had already decided this as the season he needed to play in every game, insisted on it, so a loan was inevitable. What Carroll actually said - several times - was that he was keen to stay and fight for a place. I don't know why Rodgers has to pretend he was helpless in the face of a player unwilling to fit in - if he didn't fancy him, why not just say so, politely and tactfully, and earn a bit of respect instead of adding to the impression you're a two-faced weasel?

McLaren disagreed with him tactically a couple of times, mainly about defending, so he looked a bit sulky and didn't say as much as normal. Apparently Gerrard and Lucas clearing off the line in successive matches is evidence of his defensive coaching - it's a plan - Suarez, is world class, Gerrard is world class, Carra is retiring so he wants another defender, he also needs another striker 'because we're set up to score goals' (wow!), Carroll didn't want to miss any games at all so he had to go out on loan, and he wants to stay a long time. That's about it.

He has managed the Carroll situation ridiculously. I wonder if his personal dislike of the player has caused this, or if he treats every player he wants rid like this.

Maybe it's partly pressure from above. I don't know, but it gets sillier and sillier. At the moment it's almost as if he's trying to provoke Carroll into some kind of tabloid rant so he burns his bridges completely.

Perhaps it was because some fans wanted Carroll to stay, he needs Carroll to burn bridges so he wins over another minority.

Personally, I was disappointed we let him go on loan, but if Carroll did want to play more often than not, it would have impacted how suarez played. Least that's my reasoning.

Sooner the whole debacle is gone the better. It's been obscene since pen touched paper.

Who cares though, Carroll will leave regardless. If he doesnt fancy him fair enough.
Rodgers will probably get abuse regardless of saying something or nothing.

I'm a bit concerned though if he doesnt think we need another midfielder.

He just seems to love to hear his own voice. If he's not on goals on sunday he's on bloody talksport, if no on talksport then on the official site. I've never seen a liverpool manager give so many interviews. Bloody pisses me off. Do your talking on the pitch.

I suspect it's part of his brief from the owners Tbf to him.

Rodgers has said enough times that he doesn't fit what he wants to do, I don't know why it has to be an either/or, it could have been a case of both, Carroll wanting to play (Rodgers said in August that he and Adam both wanted to play regularly) and Rodgers not being able to guarantee him that as he doesn't fit. I don't know why there has to be this underlying "real" issue, it's pretty clear to me. And while the club and Rodgers could have handled it better, I do think he's made the reasons pretty clear, people just seem to be looking for something that isn't there.

Kenny left him on the bench when he was fit last season, with Carroll clearly seething about it at times, I don't remember too much criticism being bandied about then. It all sounds a bit too selective and predictable.

I suppose one good thing about Rodgers going on and on at every opportunity is that we can see that he's a very average man with a very average brain. If he was one of these who said nothing there might be people claiming he was a genius.

And you're fantastically defensive on most matters macca. What gives?

I've just seen the show and he didnt say anything wrong imho.
He does like to talk though.
