Liverpool are expected to announce their first signing under Jurgen Klopp on Monday.

Marko Grujic will become the first new arrival at Anfield under the German manager when he completes his £5.1m move from Red Star Belgrade.

"On 4th January I will become a Liverpool player," confirmed the 19-year-old in a post on his Facebook account.

However, the Serbia U21 international will be loaned straight back to the SuperLiga leaders for the remainder of the season under terms of the transfer.

Red Star, who have a 25-point title lead and are unbeaten in 22 league matches, confirmed the deal in a statement on their website before Christmas.

"In the last 10 days we have received three formal offers for the transfer of our player Marko Grujic: from Anderlecht €2m, Stuttgart €5m, and from Liverpool we received an offer worth €7m and 10 per cent of the next transfer," said the club.

All in Red Star sincerely want Marko Grujic to stay for the next 10 years, but the financial situation of our club dictates the adoption of a different decision.

"The board considered the offer and unanimously accepted the offer of the English giants.
"Liverpool will pay the money immediately, and the player will stay in Red Star until 01/07/2016.

"We wanted to respect the desire of the player's father Marko Grujic remain until next summer at our club and we agreed to pay Liverpool €1m for the loan of six months."

I may get excited about this signing in the Summer. However for now it's irrelevant and I want at least a strong CM this window, maybe two !

He's no Delle Ali. Still really annoys me immensely that we didn't sign him.
What a phenomenal player he is.

Still, we've got Lucas.

Yep, he looks the real deal.

Just another example of how flawed our transfer strategy is. If the 'panel' identified him, then they should have followed through even if the manager didn't fancy him. We'd now be in a situation with him getting a chance under Klopp.

If it was a joint decision to pass or blocked by the panel, then it shows that they're bloody clueless.

I think we made our interest clear, and Rodgers actually spoke to him, but there was a collective feeling that, despite his affection for Liverpool, he would be more involved in the first team more quickly at Spurs.

He made the right call on the evidence so far, but maybe we didn't try hard enough, who knows. Still immensely frustrating though, given his obvious quality and the fact that he'd be in our first team easily under Klopp

So we didn't even bid? The way I'd understood it he was in Ryan Babel's helicopter and Spurs Jedi mind tricked the pilot.

It's not an example of anything besides Spurs' 'buy enough young blokes and one of them will come good' policy. For every Ali, there are nine Kyle Naughtons.

I'll opt out here as I have no idea of your point.

Suffice to say that Spurs buy better than us on the whole. But theirs is not a flawless policy. By any means.

Now, I hope this new guy is good.

I like the look of him. It'll be a daunting step-up for him, but I'm looking forward to seeing him play as adding some much needed height and presence to the centre of our midfield.

There isn't a lot of him out there (youtubes etc), but on the available evidence Marko Grujic looks absolute shit. He's father is right, this boy isn't going to make it at Liverpool.

There isn't alot out there, but on what evidence there is available, he looks shit and isn't going to make it. Right..............

Not sure going into our current midfield would be a daunting step up for anyone.

We have a lot of BR/committee dross to clear out and a lot of Klopp buys to bring in. We'll know a lot more this time next year.

Christ, I quite often make very quick decisions about players, but even I usually wait until they've actually played for us, and making a judgement based on two minutes of social media footage is a bit premature, especially at his age.

Klopp wants him and Buvac has scouted him for a few years. Given the unknown players they signed for Dortmund I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
He'll probably be ace.

We could do with midfield depth, but is this kid going to be good enough to play in the first team straight away?

Ironically it's been said that its in fact his dad's idea and it will give him a chance to establish himself rather than face competition with new signings and everyone being fit in August - there is great logic there
