Adam Hammill has been recalled by Liverpool following his successful loan spell at Blackpool.

The 20-year-old is now waiting to see if he will remain at Liverpool for the second half of the season or go out on loan again.

The skilful winger is highly regarded by the Liverpool coaching staff and he was rewarded with a new three-year deal before he was sent out on loan to Blackpool last August.

Hammill impressed during his time at Bloomfield Road with a number of eye-catching performances, including a stunning strike in the local derby with Preston.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez has been keeping tabs on Hammill's progress and the Spaniard will now cast an eye over him in training in the next few weeks before deciding whether to keep him in the Liverpool squad or allow him to go out on loan again for regular first-team action.

Benitez could decide to give Hammill his chance in the side as he has shown he is prepared to give young members of his squad a chance to impress this term after using Nabil El Zhar and David Ngog as impact players off the bench in a number of games.

Blackpool were believed to be interested in extending Hammill's loan deal until the end of the season, but the uncertain management situation at Bloomfield Road following Simon Grayson's departure to Leeds has put that move up in the air.

Hammill has revealed he enjoyed his time at Blackpool and will now wait and see what Liverpool decide is the best option for him in the next few weeks.

"I would like to thank everyone at Blackpool and the fans for their support during my loan spell," Hammill told skysports.com.

"It's a great club with a good group of players and I really enjoyed my time there.

"I signed a new contract with Liverpool in the summer and I will see what they want to do next with me.

"If they wanted to loan me out again I would always be interested in a return to Bloomfield Road in the future."

It'd be nice if one of our "starlets" could make it to a top Championship for a change as opposed to no-hopers like Blackpool and Notts Forest.

Oooooh. I'm hoping he impresses in training and makes an impact. It actually isn't that far fetched now given Zhar gets regular sub appearances and Insua has been given a chance.

I think he is, although he has Babel and probably El Zhar ahead of him, so I wouldn't expect to see him start. The most he can hope for is a place on the bench.

i think he has to start so he can be looked at thats the whole reason he's been recalled right. babel and el zhar can play another time.

Babel can play forward and El Zhar on the left?

This is brilliant news!! Fucking amazing!!!

I've noticed our players have been taking to the pitch in dull looking boots. Hammill knows how to get those bastards shiny. All part of the big push for glory.

*Looks for flag used for the N'gog signing and waves it like Billy-o*

Is he available for the Preston game?
[/quote]
According to wikipedia he hasn't featured in any Fa cup games for Blackpool.

Hahahaha. Very good.

Liverpool are planning to loan out young winger Adam Hammill before the close of the transfer window, skysports.com understands.

Hammill is currently back at Anfield after a successful loan spell at Blackpool earlier this season.

The 20-year-old is highly regarded by the Liverpool coaching staff and was rewarded with a new three-year deal prior to his move to Blackpool.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez has been impressed by Hammill's development since his return to Liverpool and he is now ready to loan him out again so that he can gain valuable first-team experience.

Hammill has enjoyed productive loan spells at Dunfermline, Southampton and Blackpool and he could now be on the move again to continue his development as Benitez wants him to be ready to challenge for a place in his first-team next season.

A number of clubs are believed to have made enquiries about Hammill's availability, with sides from the Championship, SPL and some European teams all thought to have sounded out moves for the skilful wide-man.

I'm not sure if this has already been posted but

From Sky Sports

Barnsley have won the race to sign Liverpool youngster Adam Hammill, skysports.com understands.

Barnsley and Leeds both held talks with Hammill after they agreed undisclosed fees with Liverpool for the highly-rated winger.

Hammill impressed during a loan spell at Oakwell last season and Tykes boss Simon Davey was always keen to have him back at Oakwell on a permanent basis.

Davey has managed to persuade Hammill to snub overtures from Leeds to make the switch to Barnsley and he is poised to tie up the switch in the next 24 hours.

Hammill is expected set to sign a three-year deal once his completes his medical at Barnsley

Pretty disappointed about this TBH. In the games for the Liverpool XI he's been the standout performer every time. If he'd been signed from Barca's academy or something I bet we wouldn't be selling him on for what is presumably a small fee.

Good grief. Very disappointing because he's looked good everytime I've seen him play. GK hinted that the lad likes his ale therefore perhaps this is the reason. Barnsley must be delighted.

I always liked him but the question has to be asked - why has he joined a nothing team like Barnsley?

He has been touted around the leagues for a few years now and despite supposedly impressing, has seemingly failed to attract the interest of a decent championship side, let alone prem.

Noticed that Welsh has found his way back to the prem, so maybe in a couple years we will be seeing Hammill

welsh plays for Tranmere Rovers.. so er...

must have gotten the transfers in / out for hull mixed up. dunno what i was thinking anyway cos now i remember him playing in that game against the reserves.

Well, lets hope he has better luck than welsh.

Very disappointed he's gone. He did have a habit of standing around when he wasn't involved with the play, which wasn't very 'modern,' but he certainly had skill and that precious ability to surprise. Don't we coach anyone anymore?

The rumours about his attitude could be right then. Shame he leaves, as I would rather have had him on the bench than El Zhar.

Not happy abut this, as prev mentioned, I thought he was better than many given a run in the first team previously.

I think El Zhar shows more promise though TBH.

I've been a fan of Hammill's but I think msny of you are blinded by the fact that he's a scouser. To be honest I think he's a decent player but I think his biggest problem is that he lacks game intelligence. Dribbling is a big part of his game but I he often runs in to trouble and looses the ball. I'm sure Hammill has a future in the Premiership but at the same time I think we have better options in the squad.
BTW El Zahr is twice the player Hammill is.

I think he had a tantrum after being subbed by Heighway in a Youth Cup match once, and Rafa was there to see it. He'd already acquired a bit of a reputation as a 'mercurial' talent, but that incident was particularly unfortunate and he was regarded with suspicion from that point on. The second problem was he was regarded as a '1970s'-style player - a skillful wide man who thought all would be forgiven if he put in flashes of brilliance during the 90 minutes. Just like Darren Huckerby got an easier ride at Norwich than he did at his bigger clubs, I fear Hammill will end up as a big star at a smaller club unless he really shakes his attitude up. Having said that, our coaching staff should have been good enough to COACH him. That's what they should be there for, not just fine-tuning conventional talents.
