Heineken Cup Semis

Huge support for Ulster in Lansdown today, but Edinburgh have had the better of the opening minutes. No score as yet

3-0 Ulster. Good pressure in the scrum gives them a penalty on halfway and Pienaar nails a good kick

3-3. Laidlaw hits a long one.

Impressive work rate from some of the Ulster forwards, Best in particular has been involved in everything so far

Court is fucking shite.
it amazes me Ulster and Ireland don't think anyone else is better than him

13-9 HT. Ulster had a man in the bin in the first half two, they've hung on well though

I'm pleased that Ulster went through, but i was left feeling let down by the performances on show.

Ulster will really need to pick it up if they are to stand any chance in the final.

True. Although I've a feeling they will raise their game a huge amount in the final. I'm not saying they will win it of course.

A friend of mine here is from Dublin and he is convinced that today's semi was just to find out who will be the runner up of the final. He says that no matter who wins tomorrow they will win the final by a good 40 points.

The fucker.

With no disrespect intended towards the jocks i don't think it helped that Ulster were playing them yesterday. Afoa hopefully being back for the final will help the forward pack out a great deal, but i worry about the backline. I'm just not sure it has enough quality to do much damage when we come up against sides like CA or Leinster.

I agree Court isn't amazing, but I don't get the criticism off the back of this game. We scrummaged them into the dirt bar a couple of scrums at the beginning of the 2nd half.

As to Kenny, I agree. I think McLaughlin played it far too negative in this game. Having said that, semi-finals are always likely to be edgy affairs.

Tell your friend he's a dick. Perhaps slap him roughly too. Ulster outplayed Clermont in their own park, were winning, and if it wasn't for a ref that was bricking it in the face of their amazing support, we'd have beat them there. We beat them at home without too many worries. I do think we've a bit of a mental block against Leinster, but a team missing a bunch of key players could have beaten them last week had we taken our chances better. Whoever gets to the final will have a fucking game and a half.

He's from Dublin and a lawyer, what else could he be?

So who will win today? I would love for Ulster to meet Leinster in the final and to beat them obviously! I don't know if my nerves would be able to handle that though.

It could if anything be even closer than yesterday's game IMO. With a gun to my head, I have a sneaky feeling the French will nick it.

It's in France isn't it? I think Clermont will win. Or Leinster. Oh fuck it, I don't know.

It's just too tight to call isn't it?

Probably the two most complete sides in Europe. I'm going for Clermont to just sneak it.

MOTM - Sivivatu (he should still be playing for the All Blacks)

I'm really looking forward to this game as i was too nervous to enjoy the Ulster game at all. It will be an interesting battle up front. I'll be watching out for Cian Healy, who has just become a cannonball with legs in the loose. He's become a very fine player over the past few years.

Interesting that Leinster have ditched Reddan for Boss- a wise decision in my book. I just rate him as a much more complete scrum half.

Disgraceful play-acting by yer man when Cullen slapped him. On the back of that, I'm wanting these frogs to get smashed. We don't want that shit creeping into rugby.

I was shouting for a yellow when i saw it first time, but after seeing the replay i'm glad Cullen got away with it.

Cullen reminds me of Plug from the bash street kids. I must admit when I first seen the punch I thought he had hit him hard but the reply showed that he didn't really.
