Hey, Dr Jones. No time for love...

That pass he did on Sunday which ended with Diaz missing a sitter from Salah's assist was fucking boss. Then he gave the ball away on the edge of his own box by fucking about too much. I'll caveat that by saying pretty much all our players fuck about with it too much on the edge of the box but only him and Salah can play that kind of pass. I mean Trent can too but he can fuck off.

I prefer him to Szobo because he's a better footballer. I know Szobo covers more ground but that's not what I thought we were buying for 60m quid, and not what we watched in his first ten games. We all thought we had another Gerrard, but he's slowly turning into Lucas. The thing is, they all have their strength and weaknesses but overall it's a very balanced midfield, and although it doesn't seem to have the superstar quality of Alonso, Gerrard and Masch it's destined to win a lot more trophies. The midfield is the least of our worries going into next season.

As a squad option he's fine, he's been the same player for the past 5 years besides experience, which tells me his potential was never that high to begin with.....Harvey now finds himself in the same boat. Not fussed if either stay or go but that shouldn't distract from needing more options. We've got through almost 60 games with 4 midfielders occupying 3 slots. Jones has done ok to fill in for Mac and at times Szobo but we've had no one to fill in for Grav or a proper #10 to fill for Szobo.

Curtis learned to move it faster, then went backwards. Maybe Slot likes the ball retention, it is handy when we're up against it in games. I think Slot gave him a kick up the arse about directness - turning and running at the back line like Gravenberch. Again, it seemed to click for a bit then regress.

He is young still. That gives me hope but I don't want the penny to drop after he leaves the club.

Not sure what Harvey can do. His passing is incisive and he moves it quickly with a proper footballing brain. I'm guessing its physicality Slot wants. I'm not sure he's been trusted since that daft Plymouth pen.

Harvey and Chiesa got caught smoking spliffs on the back of the bus on the way back from Plymouth and haven't had a look in since.

Our best team over the last 30 years had a midfield that was workmanlike and efficient (Hendo, fab, Gini). I'm fine with the midfield being efficient.

Id like for it to be a bit more adventurous in attack at times, but I'm a know nothing prick.

The midfield is ridiculously balanced, and the bench isn't like for like replacements either which STILL doesn't upset the balance.

It's wild

Jones is about as a good a versatile young midfield squad player as you’re going to get…and he’s totally committed to the club…

Keep for fucks sake, we have enough on our plate this summer..

As a back up to Mac Allister Jones is probably as close to perfect as we can get. I wish he was consistent enough to challenge him more effectively, but we really are nit-picking here. .

It's been a pretty middle of the road season for Jones, but to his credit, at times he has come off the bench and within 20 minutes has provided more attacking impetus than Szobo has managed in his last five games. He's also shown his versatility, playing everywhere from LW to RB and has generally kept himself fit and available. If we're dissecting the midfield then the likes of Endo and Elliott not being trusted to start football matches is where the attention needs to be at
And thats the problem is it not ? We fucking move him around all over the place, the best run of games he has had where he was showing his worth was under Klopp where he was given a specific position and role. Under Slot he has been move around a lot, so those that complain about inconsistancies ... well how about him being given a consistent position for starters.
