In which case I'll pay as much attention to your view as you have to mine.
I have the impression that my handful is more than your handful in this case. Anyway I'm not saying I don't pay attention to your view or that my view is the correct one because as I said I haven't seen him enough to judge properly. However you seem to be absolutely sure this guy is not good enough based on a few internationals.

I like the look of Honda, esp. in the World Cup and in CSKA Moscow's Europa league matches. Question is, where will he play? He's not a winger and we've got enough players in the withdrawn attacking role just behind the striker.
We're just buying him to appease the mongs in Asia with their open wallets.
Most of those support the Mancs already.

There'd be 'some' increase in numbers of Asians claiming to be 'Liverpool fans' if we got an Asian player; but the brand recognition increase and revenue will be very very marginal.

What fans are supposed to be interested just because there's an Asian player?

The glory-hunters?

Need some fucking glory first.

I'm not saying they did, but he does come with a sense of undeserved hype around him.

The season before last he was in Holland, a place where goal-scoring should be dismissed almost instantly.
I get what you mean mate. But again, no one was raving on about his 'goal-scoring' record, other than the mention about his set piece ability. It was his overall play that was discussed about. Agree with you in your latter post that there are "better, more suitable footballers out there", esp for similar fee. I guess thats the general consensus thus far from the other members too, cos most of us were in the "dont' mind" section rather than clamouring for his signing. 🙂

Not that this is going to prove his ability in any way, but just for viewing pleasure. 🙂

Cheers Binny and surely he's got decent pace.

There's nothing wrong with that statement actually.

Squiggles, Honda's got decent pace whether you like it or not.

Ha!

My bad then.

*I don't think that particular group of mountain-people are particular wealthy though.

Yes he has. Like Raul-perhaps.

Not fast but not cumbersome like say Lucas or Poulsen either.

Decent pace.

He wouldn't get past many PL defenders.

(Konchesky in training doesn't count)

I didn't have to Google 'mong' but apparently it was some clever word-play including Chinese mountain-people called Hmongs.

Yeah I know, it's so far fetched you almost wouldn't believe it.
Me too obviously.

I'd rather sign his brother E.
To be fair I've never seen him play so by that, I'd be reluctant to shift £12m on the big fella.

Yeah, me too...think I'm going to leave it to the whooshers.

Ha maybe I read into a whoosh that wasn't actually there.

Keni you racist pig!

It wasn't anything to do with hmongs... it was a reference to Squiggs earlier post talking about Asian mongs who are willing to spend money. Given that it was only a few posts back, I figured it'd be obvious. So really, it's Squiggs who is the racist pig.

It is true, though.

It's why Ayre is on record as saying he'd love to sign some Asian 'star'.

I don't know how it was missed. Thought people were just leaving KHL to see if he could go for a double whoosh.

You underestimate the japanese market.
The only games 99% of news programs cover (sports from abroad) are those involving Japanese players, whether it be football (past and present: Honda (CSKA), Nakayama (Celtic), Nakata (Roma/Bolton), Kagawa (Borussia Dortmund), etc) or baseball (Ichiro, Matsui, etc).
The moment a star player goes to a club, a famous club especially, you suddenly see people walking around in that club's shirt, amateur teams sporting the uniform, footy pubs being filled with 'supporters' for that club's games, and a HUGE TV coverage daily about the team and player news.

Personally, I think we should be aiming for higher caliber players but he'd be better than anyone we currently have on the left and would be huge for the Japanese market.
By the way KHL, he's not quick. He's about Kuyt speed.

Sometimes players look great in world cups but are not actually very good. Like Phil Babb or Diouf.
though i'm sure Babb wishes he wore a cup more often.
