Yep Gazzetta front page headline this morning is 'Benitez out'

His little outburst was a bad move, he's publicly badmouthed the board at his last three clubs, he chose the wrong board this time

He said when he left that the family would come back to Liverpool in the future, as it's their home now. I don't suppose anyone expected it to happen this quickly, but the truth is none of them wanted to go in the first place, and I wonder how much that has to do with the way things have turned out in Milan.

I did mean the city rather than the football club, hence the reference to the family rather than just to Rafa himself.

Looked to me like he was trying to get sacked. Presumably he'll get a shitload of compensation this way. Then move back to Liverpool, attend matches in the Kop, bathe in the love of the RAWK cult members, and wait for Hodgson to be sacked so he can finally make the Second Coming.

It's gonna happen, I know it is. And it's gonna be SUCH a bad idea.

PS: Brendan, yes, he's a better coach than Hodgson. But Hodgson is clearly nothing but a stopgap and will be replaced by someone ace in the summer. That wouldn't be the case with Rafa. We'd be stuck with him and his 'genius'/insanity for another five years.

Yep, that's what I see panning out too.

Bloody worrying. He's better than Roy, of course, but that doesnt mean he's the right man.

It won't come about, folks. I don't believe for one second that the new regime would take him on, given (a) the circumstances of his departure and (b) what he left behind. It may be what Rafa hopes for, but it ain't gonna happen.

I agree. They'll take one look at the squad he left behind and will lock all the doors.

I desperately want Benitez back.

But that's only because I look like him....

Wilko mate, I hope they don't offer him the job on that condition, because (as others have said) he'll just have collected a big payout from Inter and, in those circs, he just *might* go for it.

They won't, though. His politicking and his legacy in the squad will be too much for them to swallow.

I dunno Bunny, what he said wasn't that different to what he said in the Press Conference after the 2007 CL that we lost, he got away with it then, maybe he thought he'd get some cult like fan backing at Inter too.

And you guys are mad, he won't be managing us again. He can live in Liverpool all he wants though, maybe I'll sit next to him at a game one day and ask him why he sold Alonso.

Try not to worry, Anita. I think that falls into the same category as neil's insistence that Hicks would pull off a refinancing deal 😉 - imagining the worst in order to psychologically inoculate yourself just in case.

He did. Alan Heaton posted this on twitter last night
"internazionale fans chanting "resta con noi rafa benitez, resta con noi" (stay with us) upon team's arrival in milan..."

Say what you like about Benitez, he's got some cojones on him.

Although this game with Moratti is more mental than brave.

But if he *does* get away with it, and also gets the mnoney for some January signings, hats off

He did the same thing with us in 07 Anita, but then he'd just won us two major trophies in two seasons, and got us to his second CL Final in three seasons. All he's done at Inter so far is lose them the league before Xmas and win a tinpot competition against an African team. God knows why the fans are chanting for him to stay: maybe they're RAWKites too?

They like him because of the 2005 Champions league final, they really hate AC.

JJ- Bunny and FFF are freaking me out a bit about how neatly it would all fall into place!

Nah mate, I think that's what he WANTS to happen, & will be doing.

I dont think he imagines he'll walk straight back in though, I think he'll settle for a shitload of cash from punditry work whilst he missus gives him daily bj's for moving back to Merseyside & making a fair few million in the process (again).
