Zlatan, please stop being a twat.

Harsh...

In this thread anyway.

He may have actually given a half decent rebuttal to Brendan's excessive abuse. Although, there is no doubt that this is a one-off performance like Lucas against Chelsea.

gotta laugh, bren rips into zlatan to which zlatan defends himself and gets told off.

NOt sure if I'd consider his suggestion of the Chilean coach as the next manager of Liverpool as a half-decent rebuttal, but it was yet another of his innumerable 'rafa is a useless cunt' posts which was a bit twattish, not him defending himself.

Bielsa does seem to be an exciting coach though. Like a Klinsmann except he actually knows what he's doing.

Has anyone seen what Inter's injury list looks like? How do you expect the team to perform at the same level they did last season when they've had so many key players out for long periods or at one time or the other. Thiago Motta's not even been fit to play so far this season.

I doubt Bielsa'd do well in England, he's quite stubborn as well and his preferred 3-4-3 formation would most likely not work here. I doubt he'd be flexible enough to want to change his tactics. That was his undoing with Argentina at the World Cup 8 years ago.

In think in this case with Rafa he has gotten exactly what he moaned about for 5 years at anfield and its time for even his most ardent defenders to admit he has lost it. You can say he was on a hiding to nothing after Mourinhos treble year but I doubt very much he was going to be asked to repeat that, its not like they are serial European Cup winners, last seasons was the first in about 40 years. Winning the domestic title would have been enough to keep the fans and Moratti happy but I suspect most of us knew from the get go this would end badly for Rafa, hes not the same calibre of manager as Mourinho. His most creative skill during his time here was his ability to conjure excuse for everything and park the blame on somebody else, it work for a while, on some people anyway. But what will be the inevitable Rafa excuse this time?

If he wasnt such a stubborn bastard he could have coasted along there on Mourinhos work and picked up some handy silverwear, instead hes decided to prove himself the better manager and dismantled the most sucessful team in europe over the past 5 years with inevitable results. Nice one rafa, he will be lucky to last the season, and then its back to the prem for him as nobody bar the top 2 in spain would pay his wages and they both have much better managers already

bollocks from start to finish.

Difficult to counter such non specific criticism except to think if what i said was bollox from start to finish then I must have gotten it all wrong and in actual fact Rafa is a superior manager to Mourinho, he will have a long and glittering career at Milan now that he has access to the sort of world class talent he was cruelly denied during his time here. Hes flexible and doesnt see things as a personal battle of wills and never seeks to find elaborate excuses for himself when he fails, but then he doesnt need to because he never fails.

Hmmmm something about that doesnt seem quite right to me

I think you may have been slightly harsh on what he did here, which is always going to be controversial!

Can't comment on what he has done specifically at Inter's team as I've taken no notice.

I don't think many can really argue that Benitez is as good a manager as Mourinho, that he doesn't make excuses or that the top clubs in Spain wouldn't pass on him at this stage.
I take no pleasure from Benitez failing at Inter but i'm not that surprised either.

I don't want a Chilean Manager.

We're in a bit of a hole right now, and I don't think this guy has what it takes to get us out of it.

inter are 6 points of the top after playing 12 games and are in the top of the CL group so I would wait till the end of the season before declaring rafa a failure, and for someone says I should apply the same logic to roy, rafa actually has winning predigree.

Premature rumours I guessed:

Inter boss Rafa Benitez has been given two matches to save his job at San Siro, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Despite Inter President Massimo Moratti expressing his 'full confidence' in the Spaniard yesterday afternoon, a meeting was chaired later in the day to discuss his future.

It appears that Sunday's trip to Chievo and Wednesday's Champions League match against FC Twente will now be decisive for Benitez, who was appointed in the summer following Jose Mourinho's departure for Real Madrid.

La Gazzetta also claims that Inter will sound out Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni to see if he is interested in returning to the club as a caretaker should the axe fall on Benitez.

Trapattoni won a historic Scudetto with Inter in 1989 and was approached by Juventus in the spring when Ciro Ferrara was dismissed, such is his ability to steady a ship and fight fires.

What a weird sentence.

Hypothetically speaking if Rafa and Roy were both given the boot before Christmas do you think Rafa would be considered? I know its rare here but in Italy its not uncommon for a manager to return to a club where he was sacked before

I would be against it but just wondering if there are any/many who would be in favour

personally, no. i think i'll always regret that he was never given what i'd consider a fair crack of the whip with us, but with the fanbase - and possibly the dressing room - so split on him i think any return would be doomed from the start.

Hypothetically I would consider him back, and this is from someone who really, really wanted him out.

My two main issues with Benitez were: raging war with the owners (publicly), and expensive, under researched and ill-thought out signings. Now we have new owners and a DOF/Fancy Scout also having more of a say, I could consider him having him working here with this new arrivals.

In reality though I do agree with Peter: We should probably just move on and all unite behind someone new and, hopefully, exciting.

I wish we still had him as opposed to Hodgson.

Fact.

Soooooooo very true!!!!!

If he gets the sack then he can come back "home" and do a proper job with proper owners... ;D

In reality its very unlikely given he has still got 3 years wages from the club in his bank account
