He dragged it quite badly, made me think at the time he was already visualising his hat trick in front of the kop before making sure he had scored
He should have used his other foot. There seems to be an awful lot of players these days who are totally one-footed. Salah did it last week, clean through and just blasted it straight behind.
Anyway, he's still great.
His finishing is what has pleasantly surprised me, and most others. His clips at Frankfurt always showed lovely technical ability, strong link play, pace and physical presence, but his finishing looked inconsistent. He had plenty of attempts and respectable numbers, 19 in 37, yet nothing that felt exceptional, especially given how the Bundesliga can flatter attacking players.
Since arriving, though, it is as if his finishing has developed dramatically over a single summer. He is heavily involved in most of our positive play while also scoring different types of goals each week. I suspect if the club had half an inclincation he was as good as he's been, that Isak money would have been put to better use, but that aside, the club do deserve some credit for this deal. We all accepted the striker market was a) overvalued and b) fraught with risk. Well, we've signed a gem that's on the path to doubling his value in no time at all.
Woltemade has been decent for Newcastle, but them watching Ekiktie live must have made the Geordies feel a little sick.

And Torres was a brilliant header of the ball - something distinctly lacking in Eki. I hope they are working on that.
Ditto the unopposed header from 7m out that wasn't even on target ! He could easily have had a hattrick. Disappointing because it felt like he deserved it.
And Salah did it again THIS week.
