Wasn't really sure where to put this...
Anyone who regulars the Music forum knows I've supported a Southampton band for the last decade called Delays. They're a great bunch of lads, talented writers and have produced some stunning records - quite similar in style to 90's indie bands like Cast, though with alot more variation & occasional smidgeons of electronic music too.
Their lead singer has also moonlighted in a scouse band called Lunar Fields, I saw them a few years back at Sound City and they were brilliant. He's also a massively talented artist too and has had several successful exhibitions over the last few years, resulting in numerous awards.
Anyway, I digress. He found out a few weeks back that he has stage 4 Bowel Cancer which has also spread to his lungs. The NHS are limited to what they can do and the treatment he needs isn't available through them and costs in the region of £100k. It's thought that he needs one dose of ion-proton therapy or personalised immunotherapy.
He's 39, he has two young girls under the age of two, a wonderful wife and a successful career that doesn't deserve to be cut short.
His wife made a funding plea on Wednesday and set up a donation page. They raised the full amount by yesterday evening, just two days. She has posted this heart felt message this morning:
This sort of stuff renews my faith in the human race, it's generosity and genuine love for it's fellow man.
Merry Christmas x
