Hypothetical...

If you were an Arsenal fan this time last year, would you want Arteta replaced?

And if you were a City fan this time last year, would you have wanted Pep replaced?

Id have probably been concerned by Arteta, given the style of play hasn't really developed. But they are extremely solid and that probably would have been the deciding factor in me wanting him to stay.

Pep, no.

I can empathise with the paedos and terrorists Louis Theroux interviews more than Arsenal or Citeh fans so I don't know what I'd have said. I'd have probs been thinking about shagging dogs.

Yes and the year before that, and the year before that, and probably the year before that.

No. 10 years before the first sign of struggles appear? & City weren't as bad last season as some make out, heck we've had worse seasons under Klopp and the thought of Klopp being the problem never crossed my mind.

No for Arteta. There were reasonable questions if he could get them over the hump, but equally good reason (and lack of plausible alternatives) to see if he could continue to get incrementally more out of his squad.

Mixed for Guardiola. Would never have called for him to be sacked, but probably would have been resigned to the notion that his time had come and it might be better for all parties to wind it up.

Not sure we had worse seasons under Klopp where the consistency in looking this bad is new since Rogers time. We lost games under Klopp but that was always with us trying or scoring goals. Probably the last Rogers season was last time I felt we were this bad. Slot is giving the impression he is done and so are number of players.

No to either.

I don't like Arteta as a man or a what he's become as a manager, however he's been so an excellent high risk appointment by Arsenal. He should have won more on the way but they have been on a steady upward trajectory throughout his tenure. The fact Arsenal fans are massively hysterical, entitled fannies doesn't help people see what he's a achieved their objectively.

As for Pep, he is the best manager any tin pot plastic club will ever have. Ever. He was allowed a blip and then some.

There's no real comparison to Slot in either case.

How dare you bring facts and logic to Mamma Mia’s “football doesn’t matter just worry about your family instead” Ted talk

Ha!

My life is a mess and I have a lot of things to be depressed about, so I'm trying my best to stop caring about the things I have no control over.

I'm aware of how sanctimonious my recent posts come across, this is just my current way of trying to deal with things for the sake of my own dwindling sanity.

All good. If people want to vent, let them vent. We created (and use) this football message board to do precisely that.

Cheers! I assumed this place was also created and maintained for us to ridicule the perspectives of others in order to feel better about ourselves.

But after recently learning that one of my favourite people on here might think I am some sort of Nazi sympathiser, I am re-examining my entire persona and sense of humour.

Eh? What did I miss?

I haven't gone back to check what I actually posted, but I think I shared my opinion that Elon's salute alone doesn't make him an actual Nazi and we should consider his body of work and influence in it's totality rather than jump to stick labels on.

I probably worded it less clearly than that, and it seems I came across as someone who defends / supports / likes / endorses / justifies Nazism/Muskism.

For the record, I don't like Elon Musk, or Hitler, and I love @refugee

I was being snide. Apologies.

I won't lie, Grok users, Twitter users, and anyone that bought a Tesla after that sack of shit took over, annoy me. But it was snide, probably partially influenced by our crappy results, and unnecessary.

No apology needed, I like snide, and it led to a bit of self reflection which is never a bad thing.

I'm a Grok and X hater myself, and the whole "White genocide in South Africa" thing makes me especially dislike Elon.

I promise I'm not ok with Nazis, I just don't like seeing the term thrown around loosely, lest we forget what it actually means.

There's obviously a comparison to be made with our situation, regardless, but I think both City and Arsenal are very different scenarios to ours.

You could argue that maybe Pep has gone stale, maybe his rebuild is experiencing understandable bumps in the road that you just have to persevere with. Fans get bored, if we had another year or two of Klopp failing to address the same issues and not winning anything and going through a rebuild, then I'd wager that we would be questioning him too.

Arteta has been the nearly man too many times, with an outrageously good side at his disposal, undone by his own negativity, but I think everything has aligned for him this season. Us and City are shite, and his side are just about the most industrious and methodical team in the league, they are difficult to break down and they will squeeze the life out of most games AND will probably beat most of their league and traditional rivals.

Arteta was probably a bit lucky over the last season or two that they stuck with him, but if they win the league this season it will have been worth it. The worry for everyone else should be that winning breeds confidence and this is where he can take the next step by opening up his tactics as he becomes more and more trusting of his side. They are ridiculously good in a lot of areas now and have repeatedly bought quite well. Eze is a brilliant buy.

Conversely I don't think we can really see what Slot is trying to do, and the results and lack of direction are obvious. City were going through a terrible run last season too, but we knew what Pep could do and we knew the injuries they had too, Rodri was a big loss and others were coming to their natural end. We've just won the league and compounded it with a lavish spend, but we look progressively worse by the week.
