I'd be gutted if he left

Are there any players that you would be genuinely gutted to see leave the club?

This is following on from the Salah thread. I love him, but after God and Torres leaving, I no longer get that sad about a player's departure. I almost expect it at some point these days and am fine with that.

Virg, Trent, Sadio, Robbo, Ali... I guess I would be disappointed, but not heartbroken.

It's really only Klopp that would devastate me.

I don't know if I'd care anymore ... You know, I'd be shocked if TAA left .. and I know I'll be sad when Klopp sabbaticals ... but no players will get me devastated like Shaggy, or God, or Owen, or Torres, or Suarez. Done with that, I'm too old now!

Last time I was genuinely gutted about someone leaving was probably when Hyypiä left.
After that I've basically had a "let them go win shit" mentality about it.

I honestly don't care anymore. I'm more excited about new players signing.

If people run their contracts down that's up to them. I don't hold it against them. There's a lot of risk involved, you could get a bad injury with three months left, and you shouldn't really be your employer's property. While sterling was a total dick about his move it was that Aidsy Warts pulling the strings.

Wouldn't disagree with that as far as it goes, but McMoneyman kidded on that he was considering staying and played on the fact that the club was naïve enough to believe him. And for sure Aidy Ward was behind Sterling's shenanigans but Sterling didn't have to go along with them - I gather he was (some say he still is) actually quite well liked within the club.

When you're young you get more attached to players. So for me, I was gutted when Ronny Rosenthal, Beardsley and by far the most disheartening is when Fowler left.
With Klopp at the helm, I'm far less nervous when players are sold. Salah has been brilliant, but you can't help wondering, would a less selfish player be better for out style of play?

Very naive on the club's part with McManaman too.

Agree with your first point (re Fowler at least. I am not sure I cared much when Rosenthal left).

I would say though that 20 plus goals in every season plus winning both the league and CL suggests that Salah suits our style of play pretty well!

Defo, but it shouldn't have mattered. Uncle Roy was under McMoneyman's thumb psychologically, took a flier and offered him lavish new contract terms which the board then refused to ratify. I actually don't blame McMoneyman for seeing his @rse over that, but he should then have said "Right, that's it, I'm running down my contract and leaving on a free." What he actually did was bamboozle people who trusted him and I'll never give him a free pass for that.

To wonder that you also have to wonder how his 25-35 goals a season are going to be replaced. As if that is something that is easily achieved.

Sterling was an impressionable kid. And he still hasn't got any European cups, the weird little t-rex looking nobber. I know what you mean about Macca but he just leveraged his position. Again I think he'd been told how to play it by his agent and those at Madrid and did what was best for him.

Honestly, most of them. This squad has won more than any squad since I've been alive and is full of individual stories of success, many of which were unexpected, and the fans have shared these journeys all the way.

Klopp is obviously the main one, but seeing many of these players leave will be a little gutwrenching.

Yeah I don't particularly hold it against McManaman. We were shite then, Madrid were brilliant and he ended up winning loads. His agent probably told him how to play it.

Mane and Virgil would hurt the most

Painful to see Fab Hendo or Robbo go although I see Hendo and Robbo finishing their careers here.

Sad to see Firmino or Matip go but their time is probably up now for different reasons

I remember a season before Macca’s contract was up, LFC agreed a fee with Barca but think Macca went over and then rejected them, assume by then he was defo holding out for the Bosman. I think at that point he maybe been one of the highest profile Bosmans.

He's been fucked off by Sterling too. Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke.

The Barca thing was a massive smokescreen, they wanted Rivaldo from Deportivo and used McManaman to get their true signing over the line. Macca found out and got pissed off at Barca and us so thought screw it I'm leaving on a bosman

Well Klopp is the obvious one. Id be really gutted if Robbo left. VVD as well. What would really sting is if any one of Salah, Mane, TAA (won't happen), Alison left for another PL club. That would hurt like a bastard. Klopp been nothing but honest and open about his decison to take a break. It's good of him and he will honour it. It sucks but I totally respect his decision and especially how he went about it.
