IDEA - "You have mail" popup

All might be able to add a feature to the site that will give you a pop up when you have new PMs. What are your thoughts on this ?

In Personal Message options there is an option to receive a pop up when you get a new PM

Set it up so you get email notification of new PM's

I did that but when I get the email I'm not always in a position to reply/act & as I have a memory like a Goldfish suffering Alzheimers I don't remember later on.

I'd prefer one like the vBulletin software has, not a popup cos it's annoying, but something a little bit more prominent than the 'my messages' link being bolded like it currently does.

When I was still working I removed the pop-up on my office computer because I found the interruptions far more annoying than they were worth. It would really, really rile me to be forced to accept something similar on here. Please leave things as they are, with the option available for those who want it and blessed peace for those of us who definitely don't.

I'm sure if there was a more obvious pop up it would be an option not compulsory Jules.

As it stands currently, when activated, a pop up will give you the option to view a new pm in a new window, thus not only alerting you to your new pm but giving you the option to view it without interfering with the SCM page you have open.

I think it is excellent and I would no doubt miss loads of pm's if I didn't have the facility enabled.


Like the way I make it seem like I get lots of pm's?
