If Reina stays?

Would it really bother you?

Is Mignolet really that much better?

I'm not sure if we can afford to have Reina in the squad next season considering his wages, but he is a decent keeper and would provide decent cover and competition for Mignolet.
He might also be a bit inspired due to the fact that we're back in the CL.

Look at Chelsea, they've got Cech and Courtois competing for the number 1 spot. Why can't we have Reina and Mignolet doing it here?

When was the last time we weren't in the prem mate?

a) they can afford it
b) courtois will be #1 - it seems - based on the noise coming out of Chelsea (or he wouldn't be coming back)
c) Reina isn't the same keeper he was 3-4 years ago - best to get x million for him now, and his x0,000k/day week off our club's bills now.

If he was on half his wages, maybe. Even then I doubt he has the commitment and desire to push for number 1 here (based on the last few years' evidence), I think the transfer committee will actively be looking to ship him out.

LOL you know I meant the CL.

His wage would equal that of two outstanding young up and comers, so basically we can't afford him.

I'd actually prefer him to Mignolet, but that's not going to happen.
He'll definitely be off somewhere on loan.

Because that situation is rare and often proves unworkable.

And Chelsea are backed by billions of pounds.

And because both of them are good goalkeepers and Reina has gone shit.

There isn't much benefit in keeping him around. He seems to have burned his bridges with management (and many fans) and he's not good enough to let that slide. And that's all before you consider he's on 100k plus.

Can deal with his erratic form though the high wages and constant arse licking of barca is tiresome

Napoli have Andújar (whom they signed in Jan) back from loan and Rafael returning from injury. Atletico Madrid signed Oblak and Moya. 2 potential destinations gone.

competition is the key to good squads. him staying could mean the best out of ming, alternatively his style is ideal for brendan so long as they can kiss and make up

1. Competition for a keeper doesn't work like that.

2. Reina isn't good enough any more.

3. Reina is on relatively large wages at a tipping point age with decreasing value, keeping him on the bench would be financial insanity.

Not sure about 1. Competition works for all positions. Plenty of top clubs have two very good goalies, albeit one is always slightly ahead.

2 - disagree. Even if he has dropped off his best (at one point the best goalie in the epl) - there is an argument that he, more importantly his style, are better for lfc than ming

3 - wages are relative. Him being with us saves the cost of buying a replacement (min 3-5m pounds and all the signing on/loyalty fees). What's more that sort of budget is not going to buy you an improvement on Reina.

The key is his mentality and that of BRs. If they can overcome some of the issues noted in the past then Reina could have a huge impact on our season (a positive way!).

Pepe is better at distribution. I'm not sure that Mignolet is a better keeper although he will improve. Both are rubbish at collecting crosses but great shotstoppers.

Can the fat cheerleader just fuck off.
Cunt wanted out for the last 4 years.
Give him a microphone and a vodka mixer and maybe he can dance around celebrating his move to some midtable Spanish club.
He's turned into a proper tart and some of his performances under Hodgson and Kenny were bordering on match fixing standards.

He's finished now. He conceded something like 40% of shots he faced in his last season with us. I've never seen a keeper get beaten so consistently at his near post as Reina.

For all Mignolet's faults, he's a good shot stopper.

Pepe really does need to piss off, he's just milking it and taking the piss out of the club and has been for a long time.

Him and Mig? i don't think there is anything in it between them at this point in time.

Seems quite telling that Jones is starting these games so far and not Pepe.

In pre-season 1 thing I like to see is the CB CB GK trio used consistently ahead of the start of the season. BR needs to decide now who this will be and play them so that they can build some game time together.

I haven't caught up much with why he's not left, but he's available for 4M or something isn't he? That's fuck all for a pretty decent goalkeeper. I'm assuming Napoli can't afford his wages.

Napoli know we dont want him and that it will cost us the best part of 5M in wages to keep him.... why would they pay for him??
