Injuries 2025-2026 continued

The way this season is going this thread could yet surpass the 20/21 version in page/comment figures.

Good that it’s not an ACL but the rest didn’t sound good. Need to sign an additional right back now, and then maybe Frim just is an RW when Bradley is fit.

Yeah I'm surprised that it wasn't the ACL, but
they did say ligament damage, meaning one or more of the stabilising ligaments in the knee might have a tear or some other kind of damage.

Ligament and bone. Surely out for 4-6 months

Our squad gets thinner by the day and everyone is talking about our spending in the summer but in fact our squad needed more bodies even then not a rotating door 1 goes in 1 exits . If we don't sign players we might not get champions league spot with the long term injuries we have just look at the state of our subs bench just awful

Tons of injuries across the board.

City 8, Palace 10, Everton 8, Sunderland 8, Wolves 8, Spurs 9.

Arsenal just the 3 FFS. Stuffy Bs.

We've got 5 (3 serious) and Mo. away : Leoni, Isak, Endo, Ekitike and now Bradley too.

Our defence is on its last legs (depth wise) and the key figure in this is going to end up playing 90 mins of every game this season, then the World Cup and straight into next season.

I don't see a world where Virgil doesn't get injured late this season or early next season.

Given that he averages about 2 sprints per 90, he'll probably be okay.

It’s spiteful, but part of me finds it funny the ridiculous risks taken in the summer are being exposed. Not in an “I told you so” way, but in a 'Edwards, you were fucking here when we fucked up last time and relied on our keeper heading us into the Champions League spots' kinda way, and somehow that didn’t prompt any serious reflection or learning. There comes a point where I can park the frustration and sympathy I have for the players and the club and just accept that outright stupidity and an inability to learn from history deserve to be called out. It’s the same logic as the US getting Trump, or us getting Brexit. At some stage, you just get what you fucking deserve and need to suck it up.

I would argue that it was even a bigger risk this time around, given the spending in the summer, the pressure put on the books, and the further growth of CL money compared to elsewhere. We'll probably be alright, but mostly because all teams below Villa can't put any winning run together. However, if one or two more get injured, the potential is there for us to drop like a stone. Hell, we were capable of doing that with a fit squad.
