Domino effect is that Italy qualify (probably we're going to anyways), landing in Canada's group, making it tougher for us to get to the knockout phase.

To be fair, how many players should we have for each position, 3? A squad with 33 players? You can't register them all anyway. It happens to everyone, some more some less. For example we were relatively injury free last season. City are currently also facing a mini injury crisis of sorts.
Konate and VVD have looked a lot better of late and Macca in patches too, so hopefully that helps us, but I do think we're starting to see some good stuff from Frimpong, Kerkez and Wirtz, Ekitike has been fine anyway. It's not shocking that we're thin in places throughout the squad.
But it's worrying that we won't have funds to spend after spaffing so much on players who have yet to have significant impact.
Last season we had 4 CB and 2 RB as well. With Joego, Konate in the team. We didn't even need Gomez so not sure what's your point. If we had 5 CBs and 3 forwards in the squad and when Konate Virg stays fit the entire season and the 3 forwards go down with long term injury will the narrative be "Why do we need 5 CBs?"No, but we did need a 5th CB, or at least a versatile defender capable of covering across the line, or Gomez needed fucking off and replaced.
Gomez - 1,053 days spent injured since he joined us.
Konate - 213 days spent injured since he joined.
Leoni - An 18-year-old kid, still growing, never played in the Premier League before.
Bradley - 258 days injured days since he broke into the team
Robbo - No longer capable of two games a week. Rash mistakes were creeping into his game throughout last season.
The data and level of risk were all there and 95% of fans could see it coming a mile off.
