International football tonight

Ha, every prediction I've made today have turned out the opposite.

Townsend had a great game, fair play to him.

Australia lost 6 - 0 to France in an international friendly... after losing 6 - 0 to Brazil in our last international friendly.
The World Cup is going to be fun.

Poor the Skrts

Slovakia actually lost the game by that solitary goal. The Soccernet report made it out as a communication problem between Skrtel and the keeper but in my view, it was totally the keeper's fault. Ball was slow, straight at him and he totally fluffed the trapping with the outside of his right foot.

100% the keeper's fault, of course. I don't know why the camera goes to Skrtel.

Austria's Marko Arnautovic was sent off for a headbutt late in his side's 2-1 World Cup Qualifier loss to Sweden. Arnautovic appeared to make minimal contact with Sweden striker Johan Elmander who theatrically threw himself to the ground.

Before the England game I'd been having an argument on another site about whether Hodgson was right to pick Sturridge. This dipstick reckoned Rickie Lambert should have kept his place in preference to the Studge. Some people just shouldn't be allowed out on their own.

As I always said, he's a complete nutter.

Elmander's play-acting epitomizes a part about what is wrong with football today though.

That's what you get for venturing onto other sites.

I have no sympathy.

Liverpool's Raheem Sterling has been called up to replace Tom Cleverley in the England squad for Tuesday's final World Cup qualifier against Poland.
Manchester United midfielder Cleverley sustained a calf problem in training on Thursday and missed the 4-1 victory over Montenegro on Friday.
Winger Sterling, 18, has been promoted from the under-21 squad.

What a waste, called up to sit on the bench.

[article=http://www.thefa.com/england/News/2013/world-cup-qualifier-poland-squad-update-raheem-sterling-tom-cleverley.aspx]Raheem Sterling will join up with Roy Hodgson's senior England squad ahead of Tuesday's final World Cup qualifier against Poland.

Liverpool winger Sterling has been with Gareth Southgate's England Under-21 squad, having helped them to a 4-0 victory in San Marino on Thursday night.

Sterling provides additional support for Hodgson, who lost midfielder Tom Cleverley to injury on Friday and will also miss Kyle Walker in Tuesday night's game at Wembley through suspension.[/article]
