Where can go we from here?

And how will our starting line up look like?

Personally, I think it's a good squad. Keeping Suarez is like getting a new signing.
We've hopefully sorted our defence, actually I think Brendan kinda went overboard there.
We're still lacking another creative midfielder in the Coutinho mould, Mata would have been nice.
I think we've got enough options upfront, hopefully we can recall Borini if there's a crisis.

Is it good enough to get 4th?
It should be. It might not be the strongest squad in the league, it might not have all the "sexy names" Spurs and Arsenal have but we can beat any team in the league on any given day.

Our strongest team has to be:

-------------------Mignolet

Johnson----Sakho------Agger-------Enrique

----------------Lucas------Gerrard
Moses-----------Coutinho
--------------------------------Suarez
-------------------Sturridge

Subs: Jones, Touré, Kelly, Allen, Henderson, Sterling, Aspas

One more striker would be nice, but that looks a good squad - a very good squad seeing as we're not stretched by European games. I don't think you can predict the back four, it really will be down to who competes best for the positions. It worries me a bit that our two first choices for CB might both be very left footed, but who knows...

apolz, but I am going to quote myself in another thread, as I think it is relevant to this one:

PLaying in only 3 competitions may mean that our lack of depth upfront will not hurt us.

If we start with Coutinho - Suarez and Sturridge, we only have moses, sterling and aspas as decent back-ups. As back ups, they don't instil much confidence and don't bring variety to the side, but the odds of all the main front three being unavailable at the same time should be low.

My biggest concern is Coutinho - if he loses form or has an injury, I struggle to see who will thread the passes and help create chances. Suarez dropping deeper maybe the answer?

Agreed, we need another Coutinho.
Suarez will be key to our chances this season.

If we lose Coutinho, Suarez will provide the creativity, we'll be fine on that front. The squad is very good, and the team is better than at the end of last season, it's MUCH better than it was at the beginning of last season. A front four of Moses, Suarez, Coutinho and Sturridge is very dangerous and quite varied. We've had a great window.

We've also got players who'll be getting better and better in months, not just seasons - Ibe, Sterling, Wisdom, Iloris, McLaughlin - lots of clubs have got pretty fixed squads in terms of where the players are at. Ours will look better and better just through playing from now until January and beyond. Imagine if Sterling pushes on, imagine if Ibe really bursts on to the scene - it'll be like more signings.

Aspas has barely had much chance to make an impression. Give him a bit of time.

I obviously hope he makes it, but its clear from his style pf play he is no creator in the mould of Coutinho. As mentioned already, it's lack of competition or cover for his position which concerns me, and as much as Aspas does well, I can't see him replacing Coutinho.

We have improved, no question. But like every other squad, we have weaknesses.

Players like Aspas, Alberto, Coutinho and Suarez will help us beat teams who come to Anfield and park the bus in front of goal.

Yep, last year we were starting with Sterling, this year, after a huge year in his progression, he's now on the bench, ready and a better player, which shows how much the squad has improved

Come on mate, it wouldn't make sense if he WAS in the mould of Coutinho, he's playing further up the pitch, he's a forward, a potential Bellamy type.

Lloris, LOL

I like the squad. I would have liked another defensive centre midfielder as I'm not huge Lucas fan and we're a bit light there. I would have liked us to sign Wanyama. I base that on the fact he's big and African, with plenty of grit and steel, as I've never seen him play.

I would have also liked another striker. A move for Lukaku or Ba on loan would have been good, preferably Lukaku, but I'm not so sure Chelsea would have been too enthralled about loaning us another one of their players as we're quite clearly going to win every game this season.
