Trent at RB is a liability, and we need a new RB. The scot regardless how good or bad he is, he is made of the same stuff as Melo
Two MFs with Trent competing for a MF role
And possibly a RW. ( I don't trust Jota to stay fit)
Probably a total outlay of €40-60m for 4 players

Exits - Melo, Ox and Naby

Come summer we sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

We won the league, FA Cup, league cup, champions league, and came runners up by a point in the league on two occasions with TAA at right back.
He’s always been a far bigger asset to us than a liability, but is currently in a bit of a slump.
Why would he suddenly go from being first choice right back to a player trying to compete for a position he hasn’t played in 7-8 years?

Yes we did and Trent played his part, and still has his part to play but in MF. How many times have teams overloaded our Right and we struggled?

Trent has not had the kind of cover Milly had in Elliot V City for a long time, and certainly not in this season. Salah used to do it, Hendo used to do it, but they mysteriously just stop covering the right side, leaving Trent constantly overloaded with 2 opposing players running right at him.

I think Klopp or Pep needs to be fair to Trent from here on if they want to persist with putting him at RB.

Every match Elliott has played in he has played on the right, ahaed of Trent. So it may be the switch to 4-2-2-2 that is the key here, not the cover per se.

I get what you’re saying, and there’s sense in it, but I feel the issue is that other teams have sussed Trent out. The problem is that although this happens with regards to many a player, adjustments are made to counteract in most cases. We haven’t been able to do that so teams just copy and paste the same tactics and target Trent relentlessly and it works. Until we fix it, if we can. If not, he’ll remain a glaringly obvious and gaping liability.

Teams have always targeted our left side for the last 4 or 5 years (people haven't suddenly figured out that our right back isn't a great defender), and I think the recent issue, apart from the fact Trent's been off form, was that he was getting no support from midfielders or Salah. He's always had little support from Salah compared to what Mane used to do for Robbo, and it's not Salah's fault as he's instructed to stay up field for counter attacks, but at least he had some support from the midfield.
The Man City game where Milner was getting tons of help from Elliot and others was very refreshing. I'm pretty sure Trent would have done far better this season had his teammates shown the same commitment on our right side as against City.
Hopefully this is the start of it, and Trent can play back into form.

According to rags us and RM are keeping tabs on him

It isn’t often that a player openly admits he would like to play for a certain manager, which is why Liverpool must take advantage of this situation.

Speaking to Sport All, Kvaratskhelia said: “There were negotiations with Leeds, they may continue. The most interesting thing will be working with Jürgen Klopp.”

  • Liverpool are believed to be in pole position to sign Borussia Dortmund star

Liverpool are reportedly leading the race to sign young Borussia Dortmund star Youssoufa Moukoko.
The 17-year-old forward has started this campaign in brilliant form in the Bundesliga side's first-team, scoring three goals in nine league games.
In all competitions, he has played 15 times despite being so young, as the German striker looks like one of the hottest prospects emerging in the country.

January should be about moving the Ox on, and maybe Naby as well. We need a long term Midfielder. Klopp should see ig FSG will put their money where thier mouth is and sign Bellingham now and loan him back to Dortmund.
Worst ways we need a Midfielder and a RB

The Croydon Observer could be the source for all that I care as long as we get Moukoko.

It's a shame we haven't produced a good attacking player from the youth team in forever (unless you're counting Raheem and Sterling).

Speaking of the reserves / youth team... any player looking likely to break through any time soon? We've got Bajetic on the periphery who will likely get a shot in the League Cup and a couple out on loan will likely end up going the way of Wilson and Williams. Anyone else?

Is he that good?
Have never watched him play but Dortmund normally produce quality players.
Wirtz (Sp?) no longer an option for midfield?

Yes, he is a generational talent imho. He has just about everything.

Didnt Wirtz suffer a serious knee injury or something? I think he's been out for a few months already, but before that he has was exceptional.

Cannonier and Doak I think. Cannonier scored 41 last year, and is scoring pretty much every game this year as well. Doak seems to score nearly every game as well, and seems to have the physical gifts to make it at the top level.

Who, the fuck, is going to buy them?
Keita and Chamberlain are invalids on massive wages. It makes me want to weep when someone posts these suggestions.

We have a huge dysfunction in midfield and splurging money on one player, Bellingham, Rice or whoever is the flavour of the month happens to be, will not address it. Don’t forget that Fabinho and Henderson are no longer the players they were. This is a massive rebuilding job and and will take place over more than one window.

So we should sign Bellingham in January, loan him back to Dortmund and then sell Ox & Keita?

You know that doesn’t actually solve any of our problems - we’d be as well doing nothing at all.

Dont think we should be getting on the Bellingham hype train tbh. Blowing our entire budget on one player when we have so many holes to fill doesnt seem like the best approach.

He would be the first in line with "we never replaced Keita & Chamberlain" when that happens
