January Transfer Rumours

Status
Not open for further replies.
I ran across a Dortmund fan in an online footy game a while ago and asked him. Apparently over there they reckon Bayern are favourites by a mile to sign him.

What a sack of shit Bundasliga is becoming, is the premier league the only high profile league where competition still exists?

I know it's from Metro but what the hell :

Liverpool are closing in on Gonzalo Higuain after he told the club he is interested in a move away from Napoli. The Reds turned their attention to Higuain last week with Brendan Rodgers looking to get a big name striker signed up ready to arrive in January.

And amid talk that a £31.2million bid is set to go in for his services, reports in Spain say Higuain has cleared the way for the move to happen by telling Napoli he wants out. The news means that Liverpool will find it easy to thrash out a deal, with Rodgers hoping to get an agreement in place for the Argentine to arrive on January 1st.

If he isn't sold this January, and doesn't sign a new contract, then they will.

I think Reus will go abroad. Something about him tells he has more loyalty for Dortmund that Goetze and Lewandowski. He would not want to compound Dortmund's misery.

If he moves this January it'll be abroad, if not it has to be Bayern. Otherwise he would've just signed a new contract.

I like or chances this January. Gotta keep in mind he will be cup tied for UCL though.

From the Echo.

Liverpool will press ahead with plans to sign free agent Victor Valdes, so long as the former Barcelona keeper is able to prove his fitness. The Spaniard, 32, is currently recovering from a serious knee injury and is not expected to be back in action until November.

However, Brendan Rodgers is willing to bide his time as he sees Valdes as the ideal man to provide competition for regular No1 Simon Mignolet. And the stats certainly back up the manager’s belief in the Spanish stopper :

Last season, Valdes had a better shots-to-saves ratio than Mignolet - 76.7% as opposed to 68.2%
Valdes averaged a clean sheet once every 2.2 games in La Liga, Mignolet just one every 3.8 matches.
The Barca keeper conceded 0.8 goals a game on average last term, Mignolet as much as 1.3 a game as the Reds struggled at times defensively.

And when you add into the mix the fact Valdes has won 21 major honours at club level, including six La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues, the Reds will be landing one of the most decorated keepers in the game should they manage to secure his signature.

Liverpool have been put on red alert after Keita Balde Diao indicated he is ready to quit Lazio.

The former Barcelona starlet, 19, was a target for Reds boss Brendan Rodgers in the summer. Lazio did not want to let him go then, but there is strong interest in him from several clubs, with Arsenal also watching developments.

Diao has scored five goals in 16 games for Lazio, but is unhappy at not starting a game this season. He wants to further his career and believes a move to the Premier League will do that. The powerful Spanish forward scored 47 goals in a single season when loaned out to Barcelona's satellite club, UE Cornella.

Lazio were originally reported to have wanted £24million for Diao, but it is understood they have lowered their asking price to £15m.

I've played a bit with him on FIFA, but there isn't a lot of actual footage. Looks to be very talented though: strong, fast, and has the technique to back it up.

Watching De Gea yesterday made me sad, we need a better goalkeeper, Mignolet isn't bad, he's just very average, with a goodgoalkeeper, some of these loses wouldn't have happened, is Valdes that keeper though? I reckon he'd be an upgrade, but I'm hardly an expert on the matter.

Hard to say IMO. He might be less likely to dither on his line, but based on what I've seen of him over the years (admittedly clips only) he'd also be less likely to pull off some of the astounding shot-stopping which Mignolet has produced along with the mistakes.

Valdes is definitely better. The one I've heard about who seems like a good bet is Kevin Trapp, apparently a good young German keeper rumoured to have a very low release clause.

Never seen him play but others reckon he's on De Gea's level.

We'll need two eventually, unless Mingolet can improve under Valdes' tutelage, or unless one of the young GKs we have is potentially good enough in the longer-term.

With Valdes in the side you'd have at least one of the defensive unit who completely understands how to play in this system given that he's played in essentially the same system for the majority of his career.

Hope Valdes can speak English. Our fullbacks will be alright but communication with the CBs would be nice.

Kevin Trapp is quite highly rated, as is Bernd Leno. But I think Leno is a bit like Mignolet myself.

Mattia Perin of Genoa is very highly rated. Italian press seems to think he's the next Buffon.

Reus raid

Liverpool will offer Marco Reus a £200,000-a-week deal in January, according to the Metro.
The German midfielder was linked with a move to Anfield in the summer but opted to remain with Borussia Dortmund.
However, the Bundesliga side have reportedly started work on finding a replacement after contract talks stalled.
Reus' £20million release clause activates next summer and Manchester United and City are both also said to be interested.
Nevertheless, Brendan Rodgers is desperate to land his man and will make him the club's highest-paid player ever to do so.

Damn straight.

Sterling Bridge-bound?

According to the Express, Chelsea are weighing up a shock £48million swoop for Raheem Sterling.
The 19-year-old has enjoyed a meteoric rise for club and country in the past 12 months and is currently negotiating a new deal at Anfield.
However it is claimed the two parties are fa from close to agreeing terms with several of European football's big boys monitoring the situation.
Real Madrid and PSG are both interested in Sterling and apparently Chelsea have now thrown their hat into the ring.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho wants to bring in some English talent next summer with Everton's Ross Barkley also on the radar.

Whilst I think Chelsea is the one place Sterling could end up going, unlike the 100% happening Reus story, this is clearly bullshit.

Dear Mystic
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart I must inform you that Marco Reus is FUCKED! again. After his long awaited comeback from an ankle injury which deprived him of a World Cup Medal he played a 2 Bundesliga Matches, 1 Cup Match, 1 Intl' Friendly and an Euro Qualifacation against Scotland where he tore a different ligament in the same ankle in quite a fannyesque manner, stubbed his foot while being pressured. While such an injury isn't career threatening, the fact that it's the second in his left ankle in a ½ year period has to raise doubts about a future involving meetings with Shawcross, Barry and other animals. A colleague who is a Dortmund head told me that they are hunting a replacement for whether he is sold or not. I hope I'm wrong and Reus comes back just more fabulous than ever.
Yours
Killjoy🙁🙁🙁
