Job security - arne

It took him 6 losses in 7 games to change.
Try pulling a 6/7 at Real/Barca/Bayern etc. See if you survive.
Man U beat us. MAN fucking U. At Anfield. The team that Grimsby managed to beat. The team led by Amorim who almost got relegated.
I was watching the game with 6 Man U supporters, of course I wanted him sacked.

Are we supposed to be impressed? That sounds like how an overindulged 12 year old would react.

Who's trying to impress you? I don't care about going in depth about my thoughts on Slot. It's been covered by me and others several times here already. Sit on your high horse, fine with me.
But 6 losses in 7 games with £400 mill spent is a sackable offence at a "big club" whichever way you choose to look at it.

I'm sorry your friends were teasing you. Nobody should have to put up with that kind of thing.

Family.
Banter I can handle, losing a home game with £400 mill in change against a banter side, is a different story.

Mate, I like your stuff, but this is UTTER nonsense. Your personal animus to Slot is extremely high, for whatever he represents to you. You're just not reasonable in your declarations on the subject of him. For what it's worth, I have the same issue when speaking about Harry Kewell (lazy SOB) 🤣

I've never been in the slot out situation but I can totally understand why others were/are...
Those losses though were 100% on slot, the same issues that we saw in that preseason friendly agsinst Milan were still there against Brentford 5 months ago which means they weren't addressed properly. Yes you can say that new players need time to fit it but they way we were getting caught out by one long ball over the top was as evident against Milan as it was against Brentford so time will tell if it has been addressed..
If I was pep, I'd be doing that against us on Sunday

Slot basically told him to do that post match on Tuesday.

Then sanity kicks in and the data you would evaluate - is all of it, not just 7 games.

i don’t want to sound like a slot basher but what has he actually done here to arrest the slide? it looks a lot like he has just walked back his changes, so surely there’s still some concern.

that being said i’m glad he has responded and gotten an improvement from the squad. maybe he simply tried too much too soon and has learned something about himself, his squad and the PL.

i’m still not convinced we’re back and i probably won’t be until we play a few of these low block physical problem sides he keeps moaning about

Well strictly speaking, not very much!

The team that beat Villa is pretty much the one that lost to United and Chelsea.

Aside from Ekitike for Isak, but that was due to injury and Robertson for Kerkez, but it hardly takes tactical genius to realise Kerkez was struggling.

The team was always likely to bounce back at some point regardless because the players are too good not to, ultimately. Whether that is sustained, we shall have to see.

That's not me being a Slot basher either, by the way.

Beating Villa at home isn't something to be impressed about. Beating Real? Yeah, that's where I saw improvement.
I commend Slot for "go back to basics" but, I can't get over the fact that we spent so much money, and no one in their right mind can say that we've improved.

Has our so called "best XI" improved?
I don't think so. Well I haven't seen it, anyway.

Has our squad improved?
It's basically the same neglected players on our bench that we had last season, and one is about to be shipped back for a refund.

Losing at city won’t get him the sack. It always a tough place to go.

Indeed. We generally put up more of a fight than that though.

I agree that he won't get the sack anytime soon but I would imagine those who thought it was unthinkable are starting to wonder.

yea this game isn’t a killer in any way, the next 3 or 4 league games might be though
Yeh the next 7 or 8 league games should all be wins bar maybe spurs away. If he can win most of those, he may be gone by Xmas. If he’s not gone by then, nothing happens this season.

The last time we lost to Man City was in Apr 2023. That season, we finished 5th, 22 pts behind them (the eventual Champions).

Anyways, like what many mentioned, it's not just about the result, it's the lack of fight. I have serious doubts about Slot's motivational skills.

  • For the first time since 1 April 2023, The Reds lose a Premier League match by a three-goal margin!
  • Liverpool have now lost four consecutive Premier League away games for the first time since April 2012.
