Job security - arne

I've never understood the idea of the "next X games" thing.

So what if he wins the next 2 games but loses the next 3? That's okay?

They should know by now if he's the right man for the job or not.

Was thinking the same. The following 3 games are Inter (A), Brighton (H), Tottenham (A)...

It's a daft cliche, the next two games against relegation fodder can save a manager who's had £500m spent on his team in the Summer and has proceeded to butcher the entire thing. Yet hey, beat Leeds and we love you again Slot baby.

Well, it's not true, is it?

Can anyone really see the club saying to the manager, and making it public, that he is sacked if he doesn't win the next 2 games?

It's either totally made up (possible) or there was some agreement to reconvene in a week or two weeks' time.

Not sure if it's been posted elsewhere - there's that many threads - but apparently he was with the journos today bemoaning luck and missed chances. I understand you can't come out and admit you don't have a fucking clue and you're an absolute fraud, but at least read the room a little. Admit some things need to change and that you've got a few things wrong here and there...

I think this is what will happen. West Ham will beat us and it will be Slot’s last game in charge.
feels like this is either the moment slots feet reach the bottom of the pool and he pushes himself up or he drowns.

i agree such a small chance of change, he looks like he’s out of ideas

You make your own luck etc. if he's unlucky we should fuck him off to tie him to the goalpost and make Grobelaar piss on him

The subs all hate him, the first team don't play for him, the best forward is injured, the best keeper has the wild shites, and the most important players in the teams have completely lost their legs.

True or not, he's not getting 7 from 9, and even if does somehow fluke it, it doesn't really matter.

Are people basing this “7from9” thing on Carra’s opinion piece or a belief that Hughes/Edwards are operating on this mindset?

Feels as though the former has taken a hold here.

They may have told him you have to win the next 2/3 matches, but I assume that's to buy themselves time to sound out potential replacements. Not many will come mid-season, and even fewer will relish as one of their first tasks the prospect of overseeing the exits of club legends like Salah, Robbo, maybe even van Dijk and Alisson.

Yup. The "next two games" is basically time to do interviews, sort out compensation, do PR for the new guy etc.

Slot is gone and he's been told.

The first part of that sums it up at the moment.

I think he still has his loyalists though..

I think the player pissed the most with him, is Salah, and that is running through the side.

If you think about it he has lost all his connections in that side.

The full back behind him. The strikers he links up with, death of Jota, and Elliot who he took under his wing gone too, tskimas who he was also close to gone as well .

The dressing room will be different gravy for sure.. If ping pong was fit, goofing around as he does.. he would probably wanted to have planted him one by now, last straw and all that.

Maybe that why he is injured 🤷🏼‍♀️

When you think of Salah current form. You certainly have to factor all of that in.. (planting ping pong aside)

Now he is trying too hard when he does get the ball, he can't be fucked when he hasn't. 😁

Yeh ok his legs have gone. ...

Slot biggest problem is we have too marry players up front that are not adaptable and prefer their favoured positions.

Klopp forward line would have never be like that.

Every player he signed could play in more than one position. With the exception of Bobby who the team was built around. His link up play in the middle was key to how that forward line flowed.

You have wirtz, Ekitike and Isak are all better suited to playing in the middle of a front three.. Gakpo just comes in of the left .

They is no fluidity at all in our attack. It's Rigid and predictable

If it was me I'd look to play Ekitike on the left with Wirtz as a number 10 false 9 role next game.

Cheisa on the right

There is three of ability for fluidity in that attach.. Wirtz with the link up play

When Salah stop sulking bring him back in

Gakpo Isak and Salah benched in the meantime

Fucked if I know what to do with Isak though.. I did think he would be handy playing from left

In theory you could have Isak and Ekitike switching positions throughout the game.

But then where do you play Wirtz. ?

Isak I'm struggling to see what he adds at this point, but you can say that about all players in that front 3 with the exception of Ekitike and Cheisa

If we get an offer in January for Salah we should sell.

If we are going to rebuild. It should be around the strengths of the new signings. It should be Isak in theory. But more likely to be Wirtz.

He is clueless on most intangible aspects of football and life, like human relations, public perception, motivation.

He should be a management consultant, venture capitalist, or one of Edward's nerds.

That and/or (without any factual basis for this) he's been having a torrid affair for the past 9 months which explains his lack of focus.

Plus he's a horrible arsehole.

I was visible from last season the signs were there. Nothing new here, the signings we made also were worrying on paper to what we normally make. Focus on just blaming individual players was misguided, System was broken from the off and that needs to be fixed before focus on players.

Yes - this is spot on. I think the majority of the players with the right system and an injection of belief in what they are doing would be absolutely flying.

Cody Gakpo's partner ?

There has to be a feasible explanation why he insists on playing him week in.. week out..

Of all the Liverpool players we have. He does my head in the most.

Ok close 2nd to Konate..

I miss Diaz on that left...

The other issue. The lack of a baller at right back is killing us..

We have lost the ability to switch and open play effectively when under pressure from deep..

Slot tactics are ineffective tippy tappy nonsense than is all too predictable and invite the press from the opposition.

We don't appear to have the physicality in the squad to deal with it..

Speaking on the Ranks FC podcast, the host said: “If they lose four of their next five, then he won’t be in charge by Christmas.”

But Jones interjected: “I don’t know. I’m told he will. This is what’s weird.

“I am told that he will. Because they don’t want to be seen as, like, giving up on him and also, like, they’re grateful for what he did last season.”

Could Liverpool’s belief in themselves as a “different” football club to the rest come back to bite them?

Also « don’t want to be seen as giving up on him?»
Optics? Fuck off. I don’t believe a word from this lad.
Agreed. Compared to other clubs, we've already shown a LOT of patience. I don't think any prospective manager is looking at the club and thinking he won't be given the time to make an impression if he takes the job.
The only reservation potential managers are likely to have is around the extent of power given to Edwards and Hughes- i.e. whether the new guy is prepared to be "head coach".

Well as said when this was suggested a few weeks back, we didn't used to be the type of club who would spunk £500m in one transfer window and spend the sums of money we did on Isak and Wirtz, yet here we are. So the whole "we're not that type of club" nonsense doesn't wash. We want to be among the big boys, and sometimes that means being cut throat and making ruthless decisions. If this had happened last season he'd be gone.
