Job security - arne

It's not for everyone, but this is an interesting way of looking at managers. Came across it when it was pointed out that Amorim was fired on an upward curve which unusual.

It's using Elo(same as used in Chess) where you gain and lose points based on performances and strength of opponent. It's for International rankings (but tends to fail there as not enough matches are played), but I think its more useful for clubs. I don't think it really helps to compare score vs what managers had a long time ago, just the trends up and down to show how well managers are doing and how much it varies through their time. Klopp had quite a few dips and recoveries over his time.

This isn’t transition. It’s being fucking shit.
I had intended to reply to this saying that the transition argument falls down when you try and figure out what we're supposed to be transitioning to. It hasn't been obvious to me at any point in the season... but last night I could see that if we had two wide attackers who could both cut inside and go outside - very different from the profile of Gakpo and Salah, essentially - we could have a quite coherent team that's decent to watch.

However, whether we get to that point or not, I still don't have confidence he's going to be able to manage a squad effectively and I think the coaching has been really bad this season.

What did he say?
Originally there were some quotes which were related to him making too many changes during games but I couldn't find anything subsequent from the raw interview apart from an AI derived one which may mean it was fake news. Social media has become if that was even possible. Fact checking is time consuming.

has he transcended into making money by telling people how to do stuff instead of bothering to do it himself anymore. he may never come back to coaching

…please come back to us

Ok I know a lot of you will say what I'm saying is bollocks but I'm only saying what I've heard. It's not just that the club is unhappy, slot is unhappy with the way things are going on in the background. There will be no reconciliation. Both sides are currently negotiating the exit strategy. Might be at the end of the season, might be tomorrow, but Slot will not be coaching us next season by mutual consent.

Which black cab driver told you that 😁

Hooray! Let's hope for a quick end here.

As much as I want a different manager, this is a bit worrisome. Klopp had his issues with those upstairs too. Potential problems there?

So Slot will probably stay so long as we're on track for the CL spaces, and Xabi or Naglesman to take over in the summer.

I will say it's just further proof this head coach and sporting director set up sounds sensible on paper, but to date, FSG have not made it work. They've tried it twice with two lesser experienced managers (Rodgers and Slot) and it's gone tits up. Nobody should be surprised if the next manager gets equally frustrated. If responsibility is shared then one of Edwards and Hughes need to stop lurking in the shadows and get in front of a camera.

Over rated data nerds should know their limits, if they can’t work with up and coming coaches then will have no chance with well known managers. Get big Jorg back, he didn’t need all the pretend BS. Pity we spunkex our lottery winning in one summer though.

What is Slot not happy about? The choice of signings in the summer? If so, I agree with him,

The turgid shitty football we are playing is on him though.
Money!

Not a big fan of the unbalanced summer window but the data nerds have had Slot's back this season.

Allowed him to play his favourite players at the expense of the youth, kept him in the job after the worst run in years and backed him when he got into a fight with our biggest player.

I don't for any moment buy the suggestion that Isak wasnt a Slot signing either.

Sauce has been reliable in the past?

Interesting quote from Slot

“People are seeing more and more that we replaced players in the summer and didn’t add.”
