Having grown older, I think I can finally put into words why I fell in love with LFC decades ago. Despite the semantics, the essence of Liverpool isn't football or business, it's mythology. That's why everything we hold dear is based on miracles or tragedies - all part of one long myth with its ups and downs, hence our hero worship (Stevie), hence our cults of personality (Shankly, Paisley, Jurgen).
People expect all this to be true for Slot as well, but having seen the football in the last full calendar year, it's clear he was some random who chanced his name among the greats. I can't wait for him to walk so we can be rid of this turgid wank football week in, week out. Undefeated streak be damned.
