Job security - arne

I think a lot of people feel they are showing patience. Our play has got progressively worse for an entire year, albeit weve had a very small bounce back up from an awful slump recently.

I feel we can be sympathetic and loyal to Slot, but ultimately it will result in wasted time and money by not having a management team in position that can take this group of players and make them the force they could be.

Danger of becoming a United....

No doubt. I'm not claiming these people have some proud self-image of Impatient Disloyal Cunt or similar. That's why the behaviour justified with all kinds of excuses.

Not in the sense of some eternal bond, no. But in being deeply grateful to the guy for bringing us a title I could celebrate for the first time in 35 years of supporting the club, and feeling a duty to repay that with extended patience and grace, then yes.

Fair enough.

Personally I think some of the words and phrasing you’re using are a little bit silly. “Duty”. Maybe I just don’t take it as seriously as some of you guys. I went to visit some family in Liverpool over new year and some try hard super fan told me I can’t be a real Liverpool fan because, whilst my dad is born and bred, I’m not. Fair enough, to each their own - maybe he’s right.

I think it’s important that we’re not booing the guy during games and leaving half an hour early etc. We don’t want a toxic atmosphere at the club. But to some degree you get what you give.

He has given us a title but everything seems to have gotten worse over the past year or so.

I’m supporting the team till the end of the season and then I expect him to go unless we see some kind of drastic improvement.

Dude, I'll just say this one last time because obviously it's a gross simplification and it doesn't reflect my actual nuanced view, but still bears repeating: that last year in which everything has apparently got worse and worse includes ACTUALLY WINNING THE LEAGUE TITLE!!!!!!!!!!! Not a coronation, mind you, but actually fighting through a tough schedule and breaking Arsenal's spirit. WINNING IT.

So yeah as long as people just deliberately obfuscate that incredibly relevant fact then I'll feel free to think of them as capricious idiots.

He’s not. He’s a dickhead.

'15 points from 30' doesn't sound as grand as 'unbeaten in ten games'. This was a period when we were hoping to catch up, not stagnate and let the teams below us get a look in.

@peterhague I get the league win was historic after such a long wait. But did you actually find it much fun to watch? I remember grinding down teams and winning by the odd goal. I don't remember it being great entertainment and I'd rather not win the league playing turgid, sideways shit. That's Arsenals job.

Obviously we've been spoiled by Klopps balls out attack and I'm not sure Xabi or anyone other candidate is particularly attacking these days. Pragmatism is king, yawn!

alrighty, I'm there. We need a new manager, before things fall COMPLETELY apart.

Slot doesn't know how to play attacking football IMHO

Here are the top Premier League managers ranked by their estimated win percentages across all matches played in the 2025 calendar year, combining the second half of the 2024/25 season and the first half of the 2025/26 season.

gameswins%
Mikel ArtetaArsenal~39~27~69.2%
Unai EmeryAston Villa~39~26~66.7%
Pep GuardiolaMan City~40~26~65.0%
Arne SlotLiverpool~39~23~59.0%
Eddie HoweNewcastle United~39~22~56.4%

There was some booing in the crowd. That’s definitely him done.

After being held by both Sunderland and Leeds, a 1-1 draw with Burnley means Arne Slot’s side have failed to win all three home games against newly-promoted teams in a single season for the first time in the Premier League era.

Luckily we did not give him a five year contract - 18 month payout is not bad considering no transfer activity this month.

We would be wise to only give Xabi 3 years as well. Coaches do not work out at new clubs way too often regardless of their pedigree.

Neither of the coaches you are referencing has that much pedigree, do they?
